Yeah the smaller guys never get the respect they deserve, they’re actually my favourite divisions as they always produce fighters with great technique and you also get a lot of high quality matchups.
I’m a big Nonito fan because he’s one of the few fighters who genuinely wants to fight the very best, and because I’m such a big fan I actually didn’t want to see that fight because I thought Inoue would give him a career ending beating.
I was at the Inoue-Rodriguez fight earlier that year and he hits so hard for a guy that size, I’ve never seen anything like it, you could literally hear the force behind the shots like you can when you watch a HW.
However, Donaire completely proved me wrong and not only did he survive the 12 rounds but he gave Inoue hell in most of them, that performance confirmed Donaire as a modern great IMO.
