Comments Thread For: Junior Fa is Ready For Joseph Parker Fight - If The Money is Right

Heavyweight contender Junior Fa is more than willing to face former WBO world champion Joseph Parker, if the money is right. A few weeks ago, Parker took down Shawndell Winters in the fifth round in Frisco, Texas. In the aftermath of the fight, Parker's manager David Higgins explained he's very interested in exploring a potential all-Kiwi cracker with Fa.

The boy has to make himself a name before he can start demanding money....you get what you deserve until you prove yourself and he ain't worth anything near 1m NZ

Fa is in no position to complain about money ,he is lucky to get a shot at Parker because he’s not top 10 material ,it’s an opportunity he has no stance acting as he has been in big fights before .

They should go ahead and make this fight. It' was gonna happen eventually anyway.

Setting the purse split based upon the WBO rankings is a new idea. ****** one too

No idea how popular Fa is in NZ compared to Parker, doesn't seem like it would be a meaningful fight but maybe it sells tickets. Parker should go for a bigger fish imo, can always do this fight down the line

No risk No reward,, Junior's management team doesn't seem to have any confidence in they're horse.

The overall investment in a marked for glory prospect is monumental.

Not a lot is detailed but back in Tyson's time as a young prospect, it was stated that sparring partners alone were paid $1000 a week.

Maintaining a gym, running costs, lobbying, travel, accommodation, plus multiple top-level sports scientists such as dieticians, S&C coaches, assistants - basically an entourage - all have to be paid and maintained.

Then there is the cost of getting your fighter noticed by the press and implementing the right strategies - again, that requires specialist consultants to promote and market your fighter on various media platforms...

A top prospect like Fa who has waned and faded a little due to attention focusing on other prospects partially because he hasn't been showcased yet would require significant investment and sponsorship.

A $1 million dollar purse cut 10 ways in different proportions doesn't go a long way but it's nothing to sneeze at either.
