He was offered the fight and turned it down demanding double what he was offered. Saunders was offered the same money countered with a amount reasonable to his offer. Canelo negotiated with saunders because he would take less. Next time don't price yourself out. Smith and Saunders both been making 1M or less but Smith demanded to be paid like Jacobs and now upset because he gets nothing. LMAO

Lmao. You priced yourself out demanded Kovalev and Jacobs type of money. Saunders agreed for 8 million.

BJS is a better fighter. And style match up.

Ryder picked up 8 rounds for me. I know Smith has to believe in himself but ever since that fight he has been more vocal about his talents than ever.

He should rematch Ryder and show us why he's so much better than him because I don't think he is.

Saunders has had like one close win but nothing like Ryder where he dominated Smith. That was one of the biggest robberies in years.

Is that what BJS is getting? That’s pretty much exactly what I figured they’d land on. Kovalev and Jacobs did get paid a pretty penny, it was always going to drive prices up. But there was also never four unnamed fighters that were ever going to take the fight on the cheap. Canelo needs legit opponents, and the cash cow has to pay out, that’s boxing and always been the precedent. Still Smith shoulda sat back and said he’d take %90 of whatever BJS is willing. Most fans preferred BJS anyway, so maybe even that would be a bridge too far. But GBP does lowball everyone and the you never made more than $1 has never been a viable tactic. If Nelo fought a fighter that would take $1.5 million they would then have to sell that fight. We’d get a discount opponent at full price to the fans , not like Nelo would be taking a pay cut either. I’m pretty sure %99 of the people on here expected BJS at around 8 million. I’m actually a %1 who figured a fight wouldn’t even come off.

Smith is an idiot and he and his team have just made one of the dumbest financial decisions in the history of boxing. He could of made a record purse and the biggest purse in his career. We all know that Smith is not as good as we first thought and more than likely he will lose in the near future thus never getting another golden opportunity to fight the biggest cash cow in boxing.

It used to be if you were offered a fight with the biggest star in boxing one would jump at the offer and take the fight. Now fighters reject the offer and then end up losing against someone else thus never getting a 2nd bite at the apple. What a moron Smith is.
