It's sad because Golden Gloves is a non-profit. They can't afford a lawsuit which they were probably just trying to avoid in the first place.

I don't appreciate it. It is irresponsible. His level should be sparring with people who see him as a friend, not an obstacle.

How much does the kick stand leg help or hurt your balance & movement in the ring I wonder? Seems like that could easily be seen as an advantage or problem depending on the answer to that question.

Also how much does a leg weigh? Seems like you could be a bigger guy & minus a leg you'd be 10 or 20lbs lighter than you should be so ultimately have a bigger guy frame. If the kick stand leg is someone a balance or movement advantage that could multiple the edge potentially.

Idk doe just thinking out loud.

It's a shame but boxing, including amateur boxing is dangerous, and if you haven't got the ability to maneuver, it could be a bad disadvantage. Also, would the loss of a limb not alter your weight class, so the guys you were fighting would be lighter than you are naturally and alot faster? Not sure about that.

Zzzz. Just another drama queen looking for a dollar. Nobody told him to join the military and get his leg blown off fighting a war that nobody knows what we are actually fighting for.

Boxing Is a sport that doesn’t give you special treatment. The fighter he was fighting deserves not to have a stain on his record of knocking out an amputee.

But in a serious note, the man does have a cause of action. He was discriminated against unlawfully, and is entitled to compensation. I would, however limit his recovery to that of actual damages, to wit, his training, travel, registration expenses, etc. (Not including legal fees) Because the defendant later allowed the claimant to compete, I would not award any punitive damages. There's no need to punish the boxing organization for something they realized and rectified on their own.
