What made the 90s so great was that the top guys at HW fought each other and defended their titles multiple times against the top guys.

Nowadays, all seem to be about statistics, being undefeated is has become the sole purpose of the game.
It's not about defending his title, it's about not defending vs Wilder who he already fought twice and beat up in the last event.

Fury didn't defend his title because he had UKAD on his a;rse for a high Nandrolone rate afther the Hammer fight.

Both parties agreed to a 2 years old ban. UKAD doesn't joke, they are much more harsher than USADA.

That's probably what lead Fury into depression btw other stuff.

Yeah in the 90's everybody faught each other. Like when Bowe threw the WBC belt in the trash in 93 to avoid fighting Lewis or when Tyson gave up the WBC belt in 96 to avoid fighting Lewis.Tyson vs Foreman late 80's early 90's never happened. 90's had more talent but they didn't always fight each other.

Fury's folks are scrambling to figure out a way to avoid Wilder.

If something goes wrong in the 3rd fight, his dreams of Undisputed go down in flames.

Great comment! It's amazing what rose tinted spectacles do to people... One day people will cite Mayweather-Pac as an example of a past time when "the best fought the best" lol... Boxing is better to be called Prizefighting, and that is what it will and has always come down to - getting paid to fight and maximising said pay by any means.

Listen I understand Wilder wanting to run it back but don’t be dim in thinking Fury and his team wouldn’t prefer to be fighting in an undisputed bout for triple the money he will earn fighting Wilder
Ortiz is a horrible example. He was knocked out twice.

You might be right, and you also confirm my opinion that Fury is mentally not that strong and that is also a cheat.

Either way he is not that a great champ the media is propagating. He should be calling AJ out all this while and putting effort on making the fight happen.

I guess Bowe and Mike eventually fought Lewis.

They don't want this fight, but they're not revealing the real reason.
Basically because they can earn ten times the money fighting Joshua in Saudi. It’s not conspiratorial, it’s obvious. Also, Fury beats Wilder 100 times out of 100 so no-one actually cares to see Wilder get utterly destroyed and humiliated again.
