Canelo did fight GGG twice within that time frame; the issue is that everyone wanted to see them fight a year (or two) earlier than they did.

In an ideal world, the first fight would have happened on Cinco De Mayo in 2016 (I would say 2015 but Canelo fought Cotto later that year so can't fault him for that)

GGG destroyed Dominic Wade and Canelo nearly decapitated Amir Khan that year, and they should have been facing each other instead. Golovkin would have been a year younger (this was before he looked vulnerable against Kell Brook) and the trilogy would have been over with a long time ago.

There have been rumblings on DAZN/Skipper pushing hard for a third fight before year's end for awhile so no real breaking news but good for him swerving fishnets for the direct approach and all BS/politics/delays/Stan warfare aside I'm still down for a third fight, 168 fine by me. Good with the other two as well, with Saunders interesting me most and Murata least of the three. Doesn't take a genius to infer that one will happen eventually with Canelo expressing keen interest in Japan though.

We all have those things we've heard, never seen written down and then learn at some odd point that we've had it wrong all along. Mine was thinking 'on tenterhooks' was 'on tenderhooks'. Didn't realise until adulthood that I'd been hearing it wrong. Anyway, the expression is 'kicked to the kerb' (or curb, depending on where you're from).

        Moving along now.

And, you're right, that Canelo probably has got to the point that he doesn't need Golden Boy anymore. Bad news for ODLH.

Yeah, no fighter or promoter in history has ever gone back on their word or said something that contradicts later developments, or anything. Lol

Canelo under contract with golden boy atleast 4 more years. He signed a 5 year extension with golden boy for the Fielding fight. This is about DAZN trying to get a commitment from canelo maybe even in writing that he will fight GGG later this year if they give him what he wants which is more money. Canelo is the one who calls the shots on who he fights not golden boy and not DAZN.

catchweight at 164 probably. roidnelo is already spotted 4 rds b4 every fight so if GGG is 5 to 10 percent less from age it would be mean GGG would need a 12 rd sweep and 2 knockdowns to get a 115-114 split decision.

I like that 3 fight schedule for Canelo.

BJS is still a dark horse to beat Canelo to me. GGG deserves a trilogy fight & that's still one of the biggest fights to make it in boxing whether you like it or not as a hardcore fan. The Murata fight seems like a stay busy, try a novelty fight in Japan move so fair play after those first more compelling fights for me.

I don't think anyone is saying that Canelo is ducking Golovkin in May 2020 they're saying he's ducked Golovkin from 2016-2019

So I guess they can have it both ways.
Canelo definitely ducked Golovkin on his last best years.
Now it's a joke of a fight. Golovkin looked so shot in his last outing that he might get knocked out in the third fight against "La puta"

If GGG wants the fight, fu.ck it, let 'em do it...he is aging and I would favor Canelo now (even in a completely neutral environment, let alone Vegas)...but if GGG wants another shot at him, hats off to him and let him have one more go.

Yeah neither one had real fireworks...but each one was exciting to me...GGG's style means you usually get a lot of action/punches landed and usually a KO...vs Canelo you got all that except for the KO, and Canelo landed a lot of punches as well.

Could have gone for some KDs or a KO but what can ya do...200+ average punches landed per man is good by me for WWs-HWs...I'll take that all day.
