  • Comments Thread For: Andy Ruiz: I Want To Be At 250, Would Be Perfect Weight For Me

Andy Ruiz insists there's fat chance of him ever again entering the ring in anything other than proper fighting shape. It was a harsh lesson dealt to the history-making heavyweight, who ate his way out of an all-too brief title reign in a decisive 12-round loss to Anthony Joshua in their rematch last December in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. California's Ruiz showed up at a grossly out-of-shape 283 pounds, more than 15 pounds heavier than in his 7th round knockout win over England's Joshua (23-1, 21KOs) just six months prior.

The weight gain was something like a 5% gain maybe it slowed him a bit but he didn't look gassed at the end of the fight so I wouldn't say he was much more "grossly out of shape" than he was in the first.

33 pounds while he's sleeping on satin sheets driving that Mercedes Benz G-Wagon?
I'll believe it when I see it.

If he is serious about losing weight then he can start doing that now. He doesn't need to have a fight coming up to hire a nutritionist and hit up a local gym. Hopefully he follows through on what he's saying but time will tell as always.

Ruiz keeps saying he wants to be and wants to do these things. What better time to start training and losing weight right now? Why didn't he start fixing his diet right after the loss to Joshua. His weight for the 2nd Joshua fight made me question his dedication and I still am in doubt now as well. A professional boxer who made life changing money in 2019 is waiting around instead of doing.

You pretty much let everybody know how full of ***** Ruiz is. As you mentioned, he should be losing weight right now...not when a fight is announced.

Financially, 2019 was his biggest year in the sport and he gained and crapped it all away in the same year. Smh

The paydays only brought out Andy's true nature, which cost him the HW titles and garnered a lot of jokes and criticism.

Losing the titles is one thing, but losing the public's belief in you after making history will linger for the longest....because he rested on his laurels.
