I was there live last night..... Ouma is a work horse, man. He just works and works. Doesn't seem to have a lot of kick but he is very relentless.. He and Jose for the 154 title would be a VERY entertaining fight because in Jose he would have a guy, unlike Powell last night, that could certainly match his condition and work rate. Powell is a very good fighter, too, but last night showed the difference in professional boxing when a great amateur who is is a great up and comer steps into that situation where his opponent has the answers for almost everything you do and is in better shape than you. Takes more than just skills at that level.

i think powell was just in over his head.
and ouma fighting anybody would be a great fight because of his entertaining style -
That guy is a machine.
His last outing prior to last night.....against Rubio was extremely impressive.
I was actually leaning towards Rubio to win the fight with his big right hand....but Ouma perservered after the knockdown in the first.
He's obviously maturing as a fighter and if he keeps his cool in the ring, without being too relaxed....he's going to shred through people with his style.

Ice Powell and his camp had to know Ouma was going to throw 100 punches per round, why did he look so lost and unable to deal with it?
Was it for lack of a game plan, or is it just that hard to get set agaisnt an opponent who's so active?Comment

Ouma was defending himself well in spots too. This fight reminded me a lot of the Jantuah fight. Powell would have his moments with power shots, but Ouma would just come back with 2/3 shots in return. He carved him up inside with those little uppercuts just like in that fight as well.
There was a stretch where Ouma threw about 15/16 unanswered punches (it got the crowd live).Comment

His last two performances have also somewhat proved that Karmazin bout to be an off-night.
The only evidence against that statement was the KD in the Rubio fight. It might show that he has a problem with long fighters who can punch well at range.Comment

Its a thing where Powell would let go some great combinations with force and expend himself and unlike most guys he probably ever fought before he found Ouma just coming right back at him... so basically Powell was either punching or defending himself with little time to gather himself in between. That will wear a man down. I used to spr with a guy like that named Sean Creegan, he wasn't a big name in the game or overly accomplished but he used to get me more tired than Pemberton, Manfredo, Starling, Lamontagne and a number of other "better fighters" than he was generally perceived to be.Comment
