Anyone remember Loefflor claiming overpaying ppl to fight GGG?

Was this true? Because they were fighting nothing but club fighters so even if that was true “overpaying” for them meant 10 to 20 thousand. Saying they were overpaying oponents was deceptive because were thinking “oh100s of thousands” meanwhile they meant 10-20 thousand

Oh yes, i remember reading that a long time ago too. GGG was so feared that he had to give up some of his purse just to get fighters in the ring with him. It's seems reasonable when you look at the purses for some of his early fights on HBO. The reason Lemuiex even went to PPV was to generate enough money to pay Lemuiex what he was asking for to fight GGG, i think 1.5 mill. Small by today's standards, but it was really Haymon who started this overpaying model and DAZN continuing it on steroids. That's why i always respected GGG. Most of the haters don't know GGG's full boxing story, especially how he was screwed for years by Universum despite being their mostly talented fighter.

I can believe it. You must remember, people only wanted to fight GGG after he faced Kell Brook and looked vulnerable. Then looked even more vulnerable Vs Jacobs. At that point he had aged, and people came out the wood work to fight.

So you're implying the only benefit and reason to be interested in a fighters story is to feel sorry for them? Who cares about the life of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Pernell Whitaker, Mayweather or Canelo. The only possible benefit to knowing anything about their lives or even just having an interest in it, is to feel sorry for them? Is that your implied premise of reasoning?

I'm assuming you're not kid, please respond with an age appropriate comment.

Thank you for keeping it respectful and thank you for the interest of what I was implying. What I actually meant was that everyone can come up with an excuse for why there career hasn’t been a Cinderella story. As far as ggg I think that if all these excuses have some truth to them then he has to be one of the most naive boxers ever to be in this position. I hear too many excuses and I don’t feel sorry for him because of his ignorance and procrastination

why don't you just look at some of the purses in his fights to find out?

                golovkin 350k macklin 300
                golovkin 700k geale 650
                golovkin 400k stevens 290k
                golovkin 2 mill lemiuex 1.5
                golovkin 2.5 jacobs 1.75

that seems like pretty good parity. you usually dont see headliners giving up 40-45 percent of the split. canelo trout for example was 1 million to 240k for trout. he didnt do that for every fight of course but for the most known higher ranked guys he did which further bolsters his claim that they had to pay more to get those guys in the ring otherwise they could have kept fighting willie monroes and taking the lions share of the purse.

not sure where you got the oh its just 10-20 thousand from. seemingly you just made that up. if you look at some of his other purses then its reasonable to assume he did pay them hundreds of thousands more than he could have but the reason he was willing to pay them more is because he wanted those fights.

for example he could have gone to purse split with jacobs which would have meant jacobs only got 1 million. then what would have happened? jacobs wouldn[t have taken the fight as he said he wanted a 60-40 split so they negotiated and jacobs actually got 41 percent. ggg wanted the fight so he made it happen instead of being greedy and stubborn.
