If GGG is a B then Canelo is worse than that my friend
Ok....of the 24 rds, I'd say Nelo got the better of him. Making whatever rating you give Nelo questionable, in my eyes (unless you feel GGG won both fights).

GGG groupies tend to overrate those C level guys.

I think B is fair. It's not as if GGG is devoid of skill.
I think that's a relevent point here. Vast majority of titlist's reigns are made up almost entirely of kinda C or D level guys (if you're scaling GGG a 'B') with usually only one or two 'B' type (P4P) wins in exceptional cases. Way folk are talking having a resume littered with wins over P4P and long reigning champions are just commonplace.

Few fighters will ever get an A type win specially not against a true elite in their prime other wise we wouldn't be calling that 'A' level fighter an A level fighter, would we? Golovkin's career is relatively unusual in that despite his ultimate financial success and popularity as fighter he really never got a clear A or B level win on his official record, but this can be balanced by the fact that he never took an L to a B or C level fighter either like so many other fighters in the top echelon.

Just outta curiosity how would you rank the overall career of a coupla farly well respected champions like Erislandy Lara or James DeGale's on an A - F scale? What about Andre Dirrell or Rocky Fielding? Vanes? Bika or (Sullivan) Barrera?

          You have -
Elites (guys who had legitimate reign/s, top 3 p4p guys)
Greats (guys who hover around the p4p top 10 for a career)
Gatekeeper (opponents who give guys above them fits)
Journeyman (guys who make gatekeepers look good)
          Bums (guys who gotta eat)

Cool. You're one of the very few on here to yet provide a consistent grading system to give context to your pick. I can respect that, though personally my scale includes a kind of 'normal' level (3 or 4 defense kinda guys like DeGale or maybe Lara) champion category between where you have Great and Gatekeeper and I bump the absolute elite up to A*

We have to discount flukes or guys who fought the fight of their lives, only to never duplicate it again. If a guy is still active, things can happen (unless they have already solidified their status).

And are we talking OAT or of our era ?

              GGG is no C guy

I'm thinking kinda modern era - just because I find it really difficult to come up with some coherent system to compare between eras with so many differences in fight frquency and opponent level, and not least because it's much easier to judge old timers with a dispassionate eye than it is active or recently retired dudes.

And yeah comparing still active dudes is obviously problematic, what I'm focussing on is those who are either matured and of a pretty well established level and unlikely to go up or down much or are close to the end of their careers. Really difficult to judge the prime dudes who could still prove themselves greater than they are now or suddenly fall from grace with a bad L.

Not sure why you got banned man...we disagree sometimes but you always seem pretty chill about it.

Yeah I felt G won both...but Canelo gave him 2 great fights so I rate Canelo quite high as well...and Canelo is still getting better it seems while G is certainly close to being done.

I couldn't figure that out at first, but it turns out he was trolling Rockin on Rockin's Boxing Stories thread and Jaded thought he'd taken it too far. Best I can tell anyway.
