Comments Thread For: Josh Taylor Links Up With Ben Davison After McGuigan Split

Josh Taylor has confirmed his new trainer ahead of his ring return. The Scottish super-lightweight will be back between the ropes on May 2. Taylor, the unified WBA Super, IBF and Ring Magazine world champion in the 140-pound division, will take on his mandatory challenger on home soil. He is set to meet Apinun Khongsong, from Thailand, at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, with the event being screened exclusively live on BT Sport in the UK and ESPN + Stateside.

Bad decision. Davidson is more of a weight loss coach than a boxing trainer. There's a reason why Fury left him to go train with a real trainer.

I guess Billy Joe isn’t fighting Canelo then? Must be Smith.

Davison can’t be in two places at once. Unless he goes back to Ingle if he gets the fight?

Good luck but I cant help think Davison has told him what he wants to hear.

No disrespect to Davison but you can only pick up so much knowledge with his experience. He's a better coach than when he started out but not as good as he will be in 5 years and then again 10 years.

With that in mind I think he could have done better for himself as he enters the most important prime years.

I really didn't expect this. Dont underestimate Ben though. BJS and Taylor sparring with a big weight difference would be great viewing.

Has Davison ever laced up gloves?

Davison does seem to know what he's talking about but still lacks boxing and life experience.
