Because he never felt he could beat Brook.

By never fighting Brook, he could cling on to some deluded thing that he’s still a UK star and still the man around that weight.

Losing to Brook would’ve been more damaging to his career in the UK than losing to anyone else because he’s a rival from the same country.

He just couldn’t handle the thought of losing to Brook, that’s all. Even his dad said he was offered more money to fight Brook than Canelo, it’s on youtube, but he never took the fight.

It’s one thing getting whooped by Canelo because he’s supposed to. It’s another to lose to your biggest rival in a huge domestic matchup.
