Comments Thread For: Froch: Tyson Fury Rematch is Dangerous For Deontay Wilder

Former world champion Carl Froch is not convinced that Deontay Wilder was hindered by his elaborate ring walk outfit on Saturday, for the rematch with Tyson Fury at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Fury dropped Wilder twice, before eventually stopping him in the seventh round to capture the WBC heavyweight title.

I think Wilder should avoid it as well. He isn't gonna learn anything to deal with what Fury brings. He has Wilder all figured out and I don't think Wilder can learn enough going for an immediate rematch. I think he needs time to clear his mind and figure out what's best. He is angry and his ego is shattered, I don't think he is clear minded at the moment. Of course he can see this as a last major payday, which I also disagree with. He and AJ only have one loss, far from finished and a fight between them is still a very intriguing fight.

It could be worse for Wilder in a rematch...... then again you can never count out a puncher.

If Wilder thinks he can do better and land that punch, and is willing to take the chance..... fair play to him.

Wilder's already accepted the 3rd fight so what's the big deal? Yes, Wilder's upset and a bit out of his head, but only he knows what needs to be done.

Some of these guys are just afraid Wilder will come back and land something big and change the Brits' plans for Fury/AJ. If Fury's that good (which he is), then fight Wilder again. If he beats him again, guess what? No more Wilder...so let these guys take the gamble.

As for Froch, I agree a bit but this is the same guy who was salty about Ward putting him in his place and woofed about a rematch that he knew he'd lose anyway.

Again, I like the idea of Fury/AJ, but I don't want Hearn to have anything off the hard work of Wilder and Fury. AJ came over and got washed and commenced to setting the rematch overseas, as though location would help. The only thing that helped AJ was Ruiz not taking his conditioning seriously.

I like what Wilder and Fury has done for the division....the Brits can salivate when the 3rd chapter of this is closed for good. Knowing Fury, he may spiral out of control again, so it's best to get this fight done ASAP.

If Al Haymon was really any good for his client he would advise him not to do the rematch

He did land that punch but Fury kept coming. I think Fury doesn't fear his power anymore

Fury doesn't fear anything, certainly had respect for it in this fight and was much more focused though.

When you stop respecting or fearing power and getting careless, that's when Wilder will KYTFO.

I still think Wilder can KO Fury, he always has a chance in any fight, he might be super aggressive and not give a **** any more after his loss? just like no one expected Fury to attack Wilder in this fight.

I'l still be promoting supreme caution against Wilder in the rematch.

Agreed. Wilder can still KO Fury but it's highly unlikely. Fury did respect the power but he didn't fear it. Wilder has a chance but I think Wilder lacks the composure to win in a rematch. Look at Wilder's face at the opening bell, he was mortified and did not look confident at all. Wilder doesn't have the mental fortitude to overcome this challenge. I don't want to see a rematch as I fear it will end quicker and Wilder might get ruined for good.

Agreed it's unlikely..... but in HW boxing anything is possible .

I'll certainly still be nervous enough to be interested in the fight.... that will also depend on Wilder's reaction over the next few months and whether he can convince people he just had an off-night and will fight fire with fire in the rematch.
