What would Wilder have to do in a third fight to have a good chance at beating Fury?

I honestly think the same tactics again. He isn't going to change as a fighter much. One punch can not only change a fight, but it can set the tempo from round 1. Fury is the favourite, but the first two rounds were competitive and if Wilder can land big before Fury, the fight may play out differently from that point on.

Fury rag dolled him, in part, because he got that huge hit which knocked Wilder down. If they fight again, it's odds on to go the same way - but there is that chance that it is Wilder who lands the monster hit first.

Better punch selection, prepare to back up and turn Fury to avoid clinches. He's going to need to make Fury respect his left hook if he wants to catch him good with the right hand.

This is literally the smartest thing I've read all day.
Like you said if he's gonna get knocked out it couldn't hurt to attempt to get a knockout himself. He was way too timid from the opening bell.
Also fighting an assertive fight kinda how he did with Stiverne 1 couldn't hurt.
Either way is better than standing and getting beat on.

The only thing he can do really is improve his footwork, body movement, head movement, try to stay off the ropes, and hope to catch Fury with some big bombs. It's a long shot but not impossible, he did manage to beat Ortiz twice and Ortiz is more skilled than Wilder, just like Fury is. So Wilder can beat boxers who are more skilled than him, he always has a puncher's chance.

Maybe Fury is just all wrong for Wilder no matter what outside of landing that KO punch.
You hit the nail on the head with what I just bolded.

Fury is indeed all wrong for Wilder, however I believe that Deontay would have a better chance of landing that KO punch if he comes in lighter.

Bulking up didn't help because Wilder needs explosiveness and space to land the right hand. Trying to match Fury's size actually played right into Fury's hands.

As far as improving his footwork, Wilder doesn't need to become Muhammad Ali. He just has to be able to take a few steps back so he can launch that missile of a right hand before Fury can maul him.

Get To Fury First! He has to be FIRST! Also stay off that Backfoot vs a guy who is Taller and Longer than you. Tall guys are usually uncomfortable with Lateral Movement so he is going to need Lateral Movement consistently TURNING Fury instead of backing straight up and eating jabs like he was this last fight

Gotta throw the Ignorance out the window all that "I Don't Run During Training Camp" "I Don't Do Road Work" "Boxing Skills Are Overrated" WTF? his mentality is all F#CKED UP and once again confirming that Breland and Deas kinda enable him and let him do what he wants. Nobody have the BALLS to step up and say, "that is wrong we need to fix that"

It is a Interview with Radio Rahim in which the man is talking about how "Boxing Skills Are Overrated" it is Cringe. I think it has been taken down and complete Swept off the Internet because I can't find it anymore but his mentality in that Interview was all Bad. He will never Out-Box Fury but he can catch him and hurt him like he did in the 1st Fight but he has to figure out how to be more unpredictable. Also too more punches than just the Jab, Straight Right and Left Hook

He needs to hope that Fury falls off in terms of discipline. And he needs to come in lighter, he doesn't have good legs and balance and it's worse when he's heavier.

That said, I think Fury has his number now.

Lateral footwork and head movements would make it harder for Fury to get a feel of the punching range, versus Deontay backing straight against the ropes and getting trapped. Those attributes along with others that need to be worked out can make the 3rd rematch competitve.

Straighten out those shots. Learn a pull counter and check hook. Jab more. Learn distance. Don’t wing wild shots at ridiculous angles. Watch your feet. Better balance.
