  • "When you have that kind of reputation and when you have all these knockouts, sometimes your team can become enamoured with you. Instead of challenging you and saying, ‘Son, you may fire me, but I’m going to point out every flaw you have because one day we’re going to face a guy who’s not going to follow the script’.

“Tyson Fury did not follow the script. And often times for a puncher the fall is abrupt, and we saw that. I don’t believe that Deontay Wilder is going to exercise that rematch clause in the next 30 days. His pride will tell him to, but I don’t think he will and I don’t think he should. He’s shattered psychologically. Now that doesn’t mean he won’t ever win a boxing match ever again. But I know the psychology of a guy with that kind of reputation."

I actually agree with CoWard on this one. Wildling is mentally damaged and running directly into the trilogy fight will likely get him starched cold within 4 rds.

Whyte was running his mouth after the fight. I would love to see Deontay shut it before a Fury trilogy. I don’t always feel that way, but it would serve a dual purpose: it would also shut some yaps around here. Haha
I don't mind Whyte's shxt-talking as it is a consistent part of his on-screen persona. He was trash-talking before the fight, surely he'd be the last person you'd expect to stay quiet after how bad Wilder looked....or should I say, was made to look. I'm sure Whyte wanted to be the one to beat Wilder for the first time, but the spoils go to Fury. I'd like to see Wilder/Whyte even more so than Fury/Joshua tbh. I know Whyte has stated he'll still fight Wilder, but given how long he's waited for a title shot, I don't see why he'd take the risk getting KO'ed by a rival and losing his mandatory status.

Would rather see Wilder vs either one of those guys before he faces Fury again though
Almost completely with you, only I favor AJ slightly. But I will say that it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Joshua gets put to sleep. I’d like to see Deontay take on one or two fights before the trilogy. Would make for a great buildup too, if he manages to score another couple of KOs.

Yeah as you said...too many are writing Wilder off right now...that right hand is still a very dangerous punch and it will probably land against a few other top HWs

I welcome either of the matchups you just mentioned. Fury-Joshua would, of course, be the mega-fight; but Wilder-Whyte would make for a nice grudge-type match. I think Deontay would be looking to come roaring back. Dillian’s head might be separated from his shoulders.

And land it will. Not everyone can eat that shot and live to tell the tale. I love how Fury wins and some choose to praise him for his performance(s), while others choose to focus on Wilder being a “bum.” Deontay is still either the second or third best heavyweight in the world. How’s he a “bum”? Lol

Wilder doesn`t have much time, he is nearly 35. If he doesn`t fight Fury again, he will be expected to fight Kownacki, Ruiz, Hunter, Martin. All these are dangerous fights for a man coming from a loss by stoppage. And if he loses against Ruiz, for example, his real career is pretty much over.

He is on crossroads and there are no easy choices for him.
Regarding Tyson. Bit of a false comparison. Tyson lost 15 months because he was suspended for biting off part of his ear.

                • Here's the thing. Wilder is 34. He just lost his belt after 10 defenses. He has a rematch clause. He is certainly at rock bottom rn and everyone is slagging him saying he couldn't be more wrong/deluded, but you know what? I say give him another shot. He's our guy. An American. Sure I hate the cringe black excellence blather but whatever. All that gets swept under the rug if he can come back and give a great account of himself in the rematch. It's easy to say he's being manipulated by his handlers about this now seemingly futile and narrow road to becoming the one name one face of boxing but at this point we just have to assume he's a team player in this long investment. This rematch is an opportunity to clean his name up, get the WBC back and strengthen the support of US boxing fans.
I see this fight as being much more competitive and action packed or a crushing KO before the 5th by Fury
