It’s a difficult one i guess. When else is Wilder going to get a title shot. Is he really going to be content not being a champ and fighting on PBC cards for much less money?

Then add in to the fact that you kind of have to take the rematch to save face. By not taking it, it’s admitting you can’t beat the guy.

I also think AJ taking the immediate Ruiz rematch might put pressure on Wilder to take it.

And most importantly, it’s probably still the biggest money fight for Wilder right now, even if it doesn’t have the same appeal. All he has to do is say yes, and he gets a very good payday guaranteed.

The bold is exactly the right answer. Which is exactly the message that Manny Pacquiao communicated by ducking the Horn rematch.

Yes but the general public outside of fanboys will not be interested. They will have no catchy taglines that resonate with casuals.

The sell for this fight was that Wilder can end it at any time, even when he's getting outboxed. They've now seen that that isn't always the case, as Wilder was in no state to end the fight when the towel was thrown in. Most people would expect Wilder to do even worse a 3rd time, I imagine.

And, there isn't really any need for a rematch. If Wilder had won the first one, sure. Or if this win was also contentious, maybe. But without that, it's just a pointless cash grab. People will see through that unless Wilder wins some fights in the interim.

There isn't even clamoring for a Ruiz-Joshua III right now. And Ruiz won the 1st handily.

It sure is admitting he can't beat him. Which I'm sure he deep down recognizes, even if he would never say that to anyone. The people on his team may be a little salty right now about how it turned out, but they too are probably acutely aware that Wilder beating Fury is a long shot.

Fighters have to rebound from a bad loss all the time. Amir Khan somehow managed to stay relevant between KO losses. Pacquiao came back from a horrible KO loss well enough to sell the biggest fight of all time.

Wilder needs to do something like that to put him back on the radar of fighters who are a threat for the title. If he's lucky, Joshua will beat Fury, and his road to a title suddenly is much clearer. If not, a KO win of someone respectable might do the trick.

He doesn't have to fight in the US, he has to be broadcast by ESPN in the US. But they might just reach an agreement to do a dual broadcast between ESPN and DAZN. It's been done before, the Fury vs Wilder rematch was aired on both ESPN and Fox Sports platforms as PPV.

Fury has said he is contracted to fight in the states on more than one occasion.

They were the same price. There's no way they would broadcast both if it's $79 on ESPN PPV and $15 on DAZN.

The odds for Fury vs WIlder 3 have been announced. Fury is the favorite, WIlder is a 100-1 underdog.

If that's the case would ESPN prevent the fight from happening based on location? As long as they get to air the historic unification bout they'll probably let it slide if it's not in the US. They'll just modify the contract, add a one fight exception, and job done.

What Hearn actually said was that would be the date with pulev if wilder does enact the rematch.

He didn’t say the fight would be June 20th with fury.
