That's the trap of stereotypes and reputation. Wilder lost because he assumed that Fury would only be boxing him. And that gave him complacency, which led to his downfall.

Good point, I also remember Roach complaining that Fury should have been more aggressive. I guess he knew what he was talking about and Davison wasn't experienced enough to recognize it. Good that Fury did and switched him.

As much props as I give to Fury for the win, I wouldn’t mark him yet as one of the all time great heavyweights. Fury beat the most devastating puncher in the HW division, although Wilder is a one dimensional fighter. Still a great win, arguably 2 great wins against Wilder. Fury’s other great win was against a “prime” Wladimir who had made 10 consecutive title defenses.

I still need to see more before calling Fury an “all time great.” A Joshua win, and beating Whyte and a few others, like Ruiz Jr. and Miller, would do it for me. And I believe Fury beats all of them. I just need him to have at least 2 more emphatic wins and then I’m good. But Fury really doesn’t have anyone after Joshua, it’s not his fault. But Ali had the likes of Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Foster, all Hall of Famers. Holyfield had Bowe, Lennox, Tyson and even Holmes and Foreman in their comeback trails, all Hall of Famers. Fury needs another HW to rise up, Miller would have been great if not for the PED’s along with Whyte.

That was brilliant by Fury, one of the best performances of this century. I wouldn't rate him as highly as Lennox Lewis, who could also win going forward brawling or boxing from the outside. That was a performance for the ages, even if we all know Wilder isn't that skillful, but still, that dangerous right hand is deadly so props to Tyson for the career defining victory.

Wilder tried to hit Fury with his head in the eye, look for it either on round 2 or 3 , cant remember.

As I said and will say it again, anytime they step in the ring together, Wilder will go down.

I agree with you. Wilder was in fact undressed a bit.

People will bring up the equilibrium but that shot is there to be had by all. Any time you fight a guy with no inside game and defense based entirely upon a high guard will be susceptible to a hook around that guard. Teddy Atlas pointed that out years ago and he was right.

Sounds crazy but in my opinion, Whyte, Ruiz and a number of others have seen the weakness in both Joshua and Wilder. AJ boxing for 12 was amazing but honestly, what Fury did, that was astonishing...I believed but I also had some doubts.
