It was only a matter of time before he got beat like this. He refused to fight the best boxers for 5 years and he believed his own hype. Now he will never get anywhere close to that type of money or a unification bout. All the "betting on himself" talks look as ****** as they sounded then. And to think, some of you thought he was the hardest puncher ever????? Ridiculous
Do you think Wilder regrets turning down that 120 million now?

I've always called out his dumb business decisions, he never looked like a fighter who was a sure thing against good competition, all those decisions were driven by his team for self serving purposes, completely illogical. It was only a matter of time before he got beat like this. I actually think his right hand is the biggest punch in the history of boxing, but your delivery system counts, if you cant land it then it's useless. Foreman, Louis, and others had a variety of ways to land their power, so they will maybe go down as better punchers.Comment

If he believed in himself and would had beaten Fury he would had made more than that contract. He took a chance and betted on himself and lost.Comment

not true. it was a 3 fight deal for 100 million. he didn't make 100 million in his last 3. he made 65. if he truly believed in himself he would have taken the 100 million and beaten joshua then made even more. instead he cherry picked a coked up fat as a house fury(his words) and lostComment

Wilder lost to Fury but now he's a bum. FURY has the best size /skills combo in HW. WILDER has the best power. Name a boxer in HW who would beat Fury in this shape.... And remember that Aj got tko by Ruiz on short notice then beat a overweight out of shape version of ruiz in the rematch.Comment

The thing is, Wilder and his team chose Fury in the first place because he was so out of shape, rusty and plagued by serious mental/drug issues. They thought they could add Fury's name to Wilder's resume, and also, outside of Joshua, Fury was the only guy Wilder could make decent money against. It almost worked the first time; he almost scored the KO, and it probably gave Wilder a false sense of security to think that I only have to land my power in the second fight and it's good night.
But the problem was, Fury really was about 50% of himself in that first fight and just by virtue of being active and in shape, was always going to be much better the second time around. Wilder at 34 on the other hand wasn't going to improve his technique in one year or learn how to fight on the inside, a skill that takes years and years to perfect.
So I think the first gamble was a reasonable one. Beat a rusty Fury in the first fight and Wilder raises his profile and raises his value in the Joshua fight. But he failed and things can move very quickly in boxing - Joshua gets beat taking some of the shine off the unification fight, and then Deontay loses and the whole unification thing goes up in smoke.Comment
