Comments Thread For: Warren: What Happens When Fury Drops Wilder? Will He Get Up?

LAS VEGAS Frank Warren knows Tyson Fury is more than capable of getting up if Deontay Wilder knocks him down Saturday night. Fury's co-promoter watched his fighter overcome two knockdowns during their first fight in December 2018 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Warren was as surprised as anyone that Fury withstood Wilder's devastating right-left combination early in the 12th round, but Fury's commendable comeback in the final two minutes of their controversial split draw makes the veteran promoter confident Fury can take Wilder's power in their 12-round rematch Saturday night at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

I just can't see it happening. I've seen an aggressive tyson fury and even though he can get meat on his punches it seems to come at the cost of defence.

But I've written fury off too many times already for him to go and prove me wrong.

If a 6’9” man connects it sure can happen. Fury has more pop than Valuev. Valuev wore opponents down and closed them out. Lots of ways this fight can go. Maybe this is the least likely but Fury has more pop than many give him credit for

I agree. He seems to lose his shape a bit.

I can’t see Fury dropping Wilder. He just won’t want to shift his body weight over his front foot if he is seeing Wilder’s own right hand.

I can’t see it. But If Fury gets a stoppage it’s because he’s closed both of Wilder’s eyes and maybe broken his nose or something and Wilder gets retired in his corner.

I’ve only seen Fury clean out two people with single punches in his whole career. Cunningham and some Brazilian journeyman back in the day. Wilder gets wobbled but his legs are under him very quickly. I’m sure if the fight goes any sort of distance Fury will hurt Wilder but he’s never gonna put him down in a million years.

I’d love it if I was wrong but he’s gonna see that right hand and it’s gonna be whistling past his chin and he’s gonna make the sensible decision to be up on his toes just like the last time

I predict a Wilder KO by the 7th round.

I'm sure Warren is slowly going mad. No one thinks Wilder is going down in this fight and if he does -I'm sure he will get up.

Fury dominated Chisora round after round for 2 fights and couldn't put him down. Why start now?

People need to get real about this fight - watch Fury fighting against slow bums and you can see him getting hit again and again. Wilder *is* going to hit Fury in this fight.

Unless Wilder is out cold, that could make Fury over confident and think he's no longer in danger. All it take is one punch to turn the tide.

Fury is going to rip him up with combos and turn Wilder into Bambi legs. Fight will be stopped by the ref. I’d be surprised if Wilder actually drops.

It wouldn’t be out of the question for Fury to force a corner stoppage like he did with Chisora. As you said, he rarely wipes guys out, but he can do a good job of busting fighters up to the point they should be pulled out.

He did a hell of a job on Chisora to be fair. I know people will say it’s only Chisora, but the man is very tough and Fury is the only man to make him basically quit. He’s been knocked out but that happens. Fury beat the fight out of him, which isn’t easy to do with a guy as game as Chisora.

                    We’ll see i guess.

The funny thing is, people really believe Fury is just going to steam forward at Wilder? Fury has a high boxing IQ, he’s going to box smart, for sure. I really believe he will try to get inside more and pick his spots to be more aggressive. For the most part, he will be boxing with his usual skills.

Anybody who thinks him and his team are just planning to steamroll Wilder without being clever must be naive.
