Have you watched Lennox's fights? I used to grew up hating the guy for beating the bells out of Tyson (who I was a big fan of) but the guy was a savage. His fights against Rahman (second one), Vitali (whilst being wholly out of shape) and Briggs let you know just how much of a dog he is. Joshua is really nothing more than a brand meant to sell to English dweebs who have always been desperate for a world class champion who adheres to silly British sporting nationalism. Someone like Lewis, watching him getting championed as some ATG for beating the old husk of a fighter who was actually the worse of the two brothers (the better of whom he actually beat) would have deffo rubbed him up the wrong way.
Its also the eye test. Wilder has caught EVERYONE with his right hand. Not a single fighter has successfully avoided it, even the most adept heavyweight today. Fury did indeed win the last fight but he did get dropped twice, the last of which he barely sc****d up from. No one, other than casual ****tards in England, would have watched Joshua get pummeled by Ruiz the first time and jab and move in the second fight and call that guy the best in the world. Thats how the boxing world is. No one takes these mediocre, overhyped British fighters seriously other than annoying ****ing brits desperate to claim anyone from these shores is some ATG.
Have you looked at Wilder's resume? It's easy to KO everyone you fight, when almost everyone you fight is a bum, gatekeeper or a boxer set up to make you look good. Wilder has fought only 4 guys in the top 28 in the world right now. That means there are 25 of the top boxers he refuses to fight. That doesn't make you #1. Also, AJ came back and pitched a shutout against Ruiz so I know know everyone loves to bring up the first fight but let's not forget the second fight too. If Wilder or Fury fought better competition, they would both have losses on their records too
Fury beat Wilder & Lewis would have never beat PRIME Mike Tyson.
There are 2 Mike Tyson's. The early Mike would have beat any heavyweight of any era. Ferocious.
The 2nd Mike was after he lost his trainer (also mentor) and he got into partying, drugs alcohol. Heavily. He admits to not even training for Buster Douglas.
Tyson was only 1/2 way there when he fought Lewis.
PRIME Tyson would annihilated Lewis, Fury, or Joshua. There is NO WAY Wilder could take a PRIME TYSON punch! No way.
The headline is misleading. Lewis said Fury and Wilder are 1 and 2, and you can switch it up either way.
Fury DEFINITELY won the first fight, so I place Fury #1 unless he loses to Wilder tomorrow. There are some excellent prospects in the pipeline too, so the Heavyweight division is looking very exciting again.
You said Boxrec are the best. Who do they have #1? Fat boy.
Boxrec will have the Wilder-Fury winner as #1. Joshua should actually be ranked below Ruiz after he avoided fighting him in the rematch. Ruiz is still the better fighter, having knocked down Joshua four times.
