ESPN, Dan...who knows, someone is. As with Wilder/Ortiz II, there was the official NSAC report on purses, around $4 mill for Wilder? I can't remember exact number. Then came Dan's post stating they were both looking to pocket way more than that.
Simple mathematics and historic PPV buys for Wilder show those numbers just aren't possible. You can find my post on it if you wish.
If you step outside the bubble of being a fan of either guy, you can very easily see that neither of these guys can sell as other boxers who are earning this type of money (AJ, Canelo and Pac) so why are we being told they are?Comment

Arum is claiming over $16 million in tickets have been sold so far.
The first fight did 450k buys in the UK and 325k buys in the US. Even if the second fight only doubles those figures, I don't think Fox & ESPN will have much trouble covering the guarantees.
Boxing is simply a pawn in a much larger battle. ESPN & Fox Sports don't want DAZN to succeed. So they're pouring a lot of money and attention into boxing to try to stifle DAZN's growth.Comment

This is the smart thing to do.... I was gonna buy it also but then my friend said he’s having the boys over that night and now I’m just rolling through with drinks for a free viewing.Comment

If you believe that Fury, who sold 3,500 tickets to his last fight and Wilder, who has never filled a high school gym, are both getting 25 million for a fight that has plenty of tickets still left, then there is no arguing with you. You will believe anything told to you. That kind of money doesn't just come from thin air hahaha. And there are no guarantees when a fight is on PPV. Especially when the two main guys have never had a great PPV in their careers hahaha. This is another ****** spin that they want you to believe so that they can get a bigger cut of the AJ money when/if either of these two clowns ever grow a pair and fight him.Comment

And then both fighters are gonna demand even more for the third fight. The assumption is that the second fight will perform better than the first, and the third will perform the best....but who knows?
The main event cost $50 million, whereas the undercard cost 1.165 million.Comment

You guys do not know how PPV works. Cable companies get $5 per sale. Rest covers cost. Then network and promoters split 50/50 over top with fighters extra % coming off the top.
This is just US $.
Other country PPV $
Foreign TV rate $ Non PPV
Sponsor $
Quit posting when you have no clue wtf your talking about Brit Boy.Comment

Quit lying moron. 625k breaks the show even in US alone.

boxing insider is the blocked word.
"The standard breakdown as far as money is concerned is a 10% fee off the top for the distributor, with 45% each for the cable system and the promoter. So when you see a price tag on a fight, you know that the promoter will get about 45% of that.
Let’s say a fight is priced at $49.95, which for the sake of simplicity we are going to round up to $50. If it’s HBO PPV that is being used, HBO is not a party that is at risk as far as the fight itself is concerned but will take the 10% fee off the top ($5). The promoter and the cable companies both wind up with $22.50 per “sub” (or subscriber).
If a fight sells a million pay-per-view subscribers, HBO’s pay-per-view arm will get $5 million and the promoters will pocket $22,500,000. If that level of revenue, along with the other revenue streams (live gate or casino site fee, merchandising, international rights, etc.) did not meet what the promoter guaranteed the fighters, well, let’s just say that would be an unfortunate occurrence."
So 625k PPV buys would make them 22.5 mil (45% of 50), sit down clown.Last edited by Robbie Barrett; 02-21-2020, 08:16 AM.Comment
