This is why I would never want to be on the O'Reilly Show. Every show is essentially 2 people with an agenda who stretch the topic to fit their message. Jesus is a historical figure, and the thing is that its beside the point. Of course, with your ***ish faith, you are required to make such a remark as part of your religious doctrine. I just think such a statement is irrelevant and totally unnecessary.

Hmmm....I picked a bad example, with Jesus. Dont want to offend anyone here. But pick any famous fictional book character, Lets say these hairy guys from Lord of the Rings, thye are fictional characters, but they became symbol's of bravery and stamina worldwide and have huge fan followings.

Yes, whenever I go for my roadwork and start feeling the fatigue, I just think of the little trolls from Lord of the Rings, and suddenly I become rejuvenated by the inspiring example of mythical creatures.

          Note the sarcasm

If Philadelphia doesn't know what to do with it they should send it somewhere where it'll be appreciated. Maybe Vegas or the Boxing Hall of Fame.

IT'S ABOUT REACHING THE MASSES. YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT NOT EVERYBODY IS A BOXING FAN. EVEN AMONG THE BOXING FANS THERE IS A HEIRARCHY, LIKE THE DIE HARDS LIKE US. WE UNDERSTAND WHY SMOKING JOE DESRERVES A STATUE, BUT TO THE AVERAGE AMERICAN IT WOULD BE HARD FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND WHY HE GETS A STATUE AND NOT THEIR FAVORITE BASEBALL OR FOOTBALL PLAYER. YOU SEE IN ALL COMPETITIVE SPORTS THERE ARE THE UNDERLYING UNIVERSAL THEMES THAT WE ALL KNOW BY HEART BECAUSE OF OUR LOVE FOR BOXING. THE MOVIE ROCKY IS ABLE TO EMBODY ALL OF THESE THEMES WITHOUT FEINTING PUNCHES BECAUSE IT IS FICTITIOUS. BASICALLY TO US , AND WHEN I SAY US I MEAN THE BOXING COMMUNITY THAT GATHERS IN THE CHURCHES OF SPORTSBARS, LIVING ROOMS, AND BUDDY'S GARAGES TO WORSHIP THE SWEET SCIENCE, THAT " PROP " MIGHT AS WELL BE JESUS ON THE CROSS. IT MEANS THAT MUCH MORE TO US. BUT THE AVERAGE JOE COULDN'T GIVE A ****.
