That’s easy to answer. Canelo had gone against the grain with the WBC by refusing any promotional belts presented to him. The WBC was promoting a special Mayan belt for the Chávez Jr., fight yet Canelo publicly refused it and it didn’t fly well with Mexican industry. On top of that, CANELO refused the WBC belt on both occasions PUBLICLY, for the GGG fights. People forget that. Also Loeffler and former HBO Boxing Nelson were tight.

Canelo had many things against them and the WBC are known to be hardcore corrupt, I mean its Mexico mayne... the last thing you want to do being a Mexican icon is to refuse the defacto Mexican belt, the WBC strap.

Floyd is 100% right about who gets to be called an American. The US is obsessed with classifying people. It's similar here in Canada maybe not as bad but worse than it should be.
