Are the detractors suggesting Canelo take a pay cut???

You understand that they didn’t get offered $12 million right?
They didn’t even get an offer in that ball park.
3-4 times their career high payday means about $5 million.

FACT: Golovkin did not throw a take-it-or-leave-it lowball offer to Kell Brook (or Eubank)... like he threw a take-it-or-leave-it lowball offer to Jacobs and Saunders... and the reason why is clearly obvious... because, Golovkin actually wanted to fight Kell Brook (or Eubank)
He flat out called the offer "life changing money," but then went on to say it was too risky.Comment

If he didn't like going to 45% he could have walked away. He didn't because he wanted the title. It's all about leverage. There is nothing shocking about it. When Canelo failed his drug test he opened himself up to renegotiating and lost some of his leverage. The other side took advantage of it and Canelo's team caved in.Comment

To more rational folk the most obvious reason was that HBO was paying for GGGs opponents - other than Eubank / Brook - and were operating on a reduced budget. You know. Like grown up reasons.

you talk utter rubbish
they offered Saunders $1.5mil... said, take-it-or-leave-it... and then quickly ran off to sign yet another no-hoper
NEWS FLASH: that is not how to make a fight you muppet
oh, then they ran off to the media and pulled their usual lame schtick...
**** in Loefflers voice ****
" *chuckle* well... we cant force these guys to fight Gennady "
oh, nearly forgot... then they leaked that their offer was $4m
which Saunders immediately said was a downright lie, the offer was $1.5m... the exact same lowball offer they threw at Danny Jacobs
Tony Baloney... stop pulling that lame casual-fan bullshlt
stop twisting out-of-negotiation comments and pretending they mean something, you dumb kid
there were 3 REAL opportunities for that fight to happen
1) they threw Saunders a $1.5m lowball, and then quickly ran off to sign yet another no-hoper
2) BJS signed to fight Golovkin in Kazakhstan, but Golovkin understandably selected Canelo... so stop that ducking bullshlt you childish moron, if anyone avoided it was Golovkin
3) BJS said " I will fight you in June "... but Golovkin selected Vanes
if Golovkin had fought Saunders instead of Vanes, for UNDISPUTED... he would not have been stripped by the IBF, because a unification > a mando
stop talking bollocks you excuse-making muppet
FACT: the guys who found $4.5m+ to share with Kell Brook... but could only find $1.5m to share with Billy-Joe Saunders... were in no hurry whatsoever to fight BJS
and do not pull that " Brook is a star " rubbish... Brook was not - AND STILL IS NOT - a star... that rubbish was started by idiot Golovkin fans, he is no more well-known than Saunders
and btw, Saunders did not ask for more money, he wanted that fight in the UK if they were only willing to pay him $1.5m
FACT: they were willing to fight Brook in the UK, but they were not willing to fight Saunders in the UK... and they were not willing to pay him a THIRD of what they paid Kell Brook... which tells the whole story right there
and NO... switching Eubanks purse to Kell Brook was not necessary, nor does it have anything to do with the fact that they were not willing to split the pot fairly with Saunders.. the money was either there from the Brook fight, or it was not... don't try to pretend that they voluntarily took a loss on Brook by paying him 3x more than they had to
Canelo gave Golovkin 45% because he REALLY wanted that fight... Golovkin offered Saunders $1.5m because he did not want that fight, as his selection of Vanes proved
btw, don't argue, I have links for everything...

they caved in, because Canelo was desperate for that fight
Canelo was desperate... because of the result in the first fight, and because of the positive drug test
nothing in that situation is similar to Smith and Saunders
and Canelo is a even bigger star now than he was before moving up to 160
I agree that Canelo should - and probably will - offer them more
chill man... you have no idea what is going to happen, who Canelo will select
sit back quietly and wait happily for the Golovkin/Sacramento fight... rather than criticize a guy who will obviously select a much better opponentLast edited by aboutfkntime; 02-17-2020, 05:29 AM.Comment

hey moron... they could have fought Saunders under the exact same terms they fought Brook
it is absurd to suggest that the money they could afford to offer for a middleweight unification to become undisputed... was only a THIRD what they could offer an unknown welterweight
you excuse-making muppet LMAO
and what about refusing to fight Saunders in June, to become UNDISPUTED... preferring instead to select Vanes... what is your excuse for that?
the fact is, they were clearly in no hurry to make that fight... they bent over backward to justify fighting scrubs, and would not lift a finger to fight a world class treat... just like when they totally refused to negotiate on weight with little 153lb Cotto, but were happy to fight Rosado at 158
like I said... you churn out the excuses, just like the other muppets

Callum smith and Groves split £6 million for the WBSS final and I know the winner got a bigger portion. So Oscar is talking garbage regardless, I think an offer around $6-7 million would prob get the fight done, and that still would only be on par or a bit more than Smith's biggest pay day.Comment
