Conor wants his shot at a 155 title fight. He’s not beating Usman or Jorge, no point to fight at 170. Cowboy was a gimme fight for Conor.

They’re at a stand still because Khabib isn’t having it, even if Conor wants it. That’s the problem.
The UFC has already stated Conor will face the winner of Khabib Ferguson

He doesnt have to fight Gaethje to get a title shot. He already has it.
So why is he fighting Gaethje?

This is jus my opinion but I dont think Conor really wants to fight Khabib OR Tony at 155. I dont think he wants to cut the weight anymore.

Whatever happened to him being on standby for Ufc 249?

Let's keep our eye on it. If the UFC allows Conor to fight Gaethje at 170 then we know something is going on.

Also I can see a 165 lb division coming real soon to accommodate McGregor.

Everything that is discussed is just talks and negotiations.

Mcgregor fights at ONE FIFTY FIVE of it’s for a title shot, which is Dana’s and Conor’s ultimate goal. He would never fight Masvidal or Usman @ 170.
Those two would crush the Conor and deplete his money making abilities in doing so.

Conor wants a 155 title shot.
They’re waiting for the outcome of Khabib Ferguson to see how the cards play out.

Conor is on standby for Khabib’s next fight if his opponent doesn’t make it for the fight. Dana just stated this yesterday

        • Oh let them box at their walking weight without any dehydration. Manny will leave McGregor with his brain leaking from his ears.

          • When are people going to understand the two are to completely different sports. McGregor wouldn’t last five rounds against Pacquiao’s constant attack. Just like Pacquiao wouldn’t survive a headlock. But it would sell a lot of tickets.

They don’t know what exactly to do with Conor. They want to capitalize as much as possible on his PPV sales and drawing power but they have to do it carefully. If he fights a top contender and loses right now, his stock will surely drop.

They want to keep his stock HIGH. So they either feed him another easy win like Cowboy, or they wait for the right “money fight” to throw him in so they can at least cash out big, whether he wins or loses.
Dana is expecting Khabib wins and he’ll immediately set up fight with a Khabib and Conor.

But there’s obstacles, first one being Tony Ferguson if he beats Khabib throws a wrench in that plan. Second would be Khabib doesn’t want to fight Conor.
And those are two big obstacles Dana will have trouble with.
              That’s why he’s been stalling.

Yeah he said that because it was live and caught him off guard, in his face.

That’s why Tony and Khabib make the remark after that comment, “All of a sudden!”

Khabib already said it after the conference that Dana has been trying convince him to take the Mcgregor fight.
