Comments Thread For: Matchroom Boxing Inks Josh Warrington To Multi-Fight Deal

Well, that was quick. Barely a few hours after parting ways with Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions, Josh Warrington (30-0, 7KOs) has secured a new home-actually an old one. The unbeaten featherweight titlist has agreed to a multi-fight deal with rival promotional outfit Matchroom Boxing, under whose banner he previously fight until leaving in December 2016 to sign with Warren.

"It's great to be back with Matchroom, Sky and now DAZN and I'm very excited about the future," said Warrington. "I have enjoyed my time at BT [Sport] but now I'm looking forward to going on to achieve my dreams of both fighting in the USA and unifying the division."

Strange choice, considering PBC and TR have much better options at 126-130.

Matchroom or more likely DAZN must’ve have offered Warrington a pretty high guarantee for him to make this move.

I do hope we get Josh vs Can Xu at some point this year though, that would be a good fight and should be pretty easy to make now.

Surprisingly it seems pretty amicable. I was expecting emails, binding contracts, legal letter, the lot...😂

Rojas needs to be given the rematch with Xu, he won that first fight. Maybe if LSC vacates with his move up, that could be for the super title and Warrington could unify with the winner

He’s being loyal to his countryman, as the PBC fighters should be to theirs

That's Warren lost Frampton and Fury to Top Rank, Saunders and Warrington (his biggest UK star) to Matchroom.

Warren is on a slippery slope.... luckily he's a fish, so....

The cards were too wide but I did score that fight 115-113 to Xu.

I doubt Rojas is getting a rematch unless it’s enforced tbh.

I’ve got a horrible feeling we’re going to get Warrington-Galahad 2 as part of a PPV doubleheader, paired with Smith-Brook or something like that.😬

Forget loyalty promoters aren’t loyal to fighters, they are just assets they are looking to monetise.

Fighters should ALWAYS put themselves first.
