With (Jackson) I stopped drinking Pepsi, I didn't listen too Prince either and as for (Tyson) first it was James Buster Douglas, then Evander Holyfield and finally Lennox Lewis. Today I like Wilder.. And even though they never beat him.. i still find myself not liking Fury, AJ and Whyte. And its not a U.K thing.. i like Eubank jr, and Joe Joyce.
Don't forget the fourth Michael of that era. Michael Johnson of track and field. He was an absolute rock start of that era, too. Your post made me think of it, because I remember people talking about the 4 Michaels. Hah. Great era!

Good post, out of interest what allures you to Eubank Jr? I also ask alot of my people here in the UK. I can't see it.

Tyson KOed Spinks in 1 round 1.5 years before Douglas and KOed Carl the Truth Williams in 1 round 7 months before Douglas. In between he did show some vulnerability in a 5 round fight with Bruno, though. As far as luck, Douglas immediately slapped the mat in frustration that he made a mistake and got caught and had his eyes on the ref immediately picking up the count. He would have gotten up even if the count was quicker. And Tyson's count on a stopwatch was exactly as long when he got KOed in the 10th (videos of both knockdowns side by side on Youtube with a watch...they are identical). But none of that matters because it's a count not 10 seconds timed and they all vary from ref to ref. Douglas owned Tyson that night, controlled him with the jab, backed him up the whole night. It was Buster's night.

it's not such a shut and closed case as that unless you are wilfully blind to any nuance. Tyson when he had his head screwed on would have been a tough matchup for any HW you care to mention and that makes peak Tyson a great in my eyes.

By the same logic you use we can say RJJ was just a good fighter because of all the losses.

Can't agree 100%. Yes, the counts were similar in time but not identical. Douglas had luck anyhow since seconds after the bell saved him from a heavy KO.
Douglas was a better boxer that night, true, but was very lucky.

Tyson stood a chance at beating any heavyweight in history on his good days. He might not beat them every time but he had the skill set to beat any of them sometimes. Like him or not in his prime he stands with the best.

That article was just all over the place. Boxingscene really does publish just about anything.
