Tanaka is getting older, so it wouldn't surprise me if the move up was also necessary on top of history seeking. I'm sure he would have loved to get that IBF title off of Mthalane and get the Ring Belt for doing so. Tanaka and Ioka are the exact same height with only 1in reach difference (negligible) So I wouldnt be surprised if this is 2020 FOTY.

Would have loved to see Ioka get a rematch off of Niettes but he was shook, and the Estrada camp had no interest in fighting Ioka. It is what it is.

Maybe this is the best time for Kosei Tanaka to tie Kazuto Ioka for four championships in four weights. As you said, Tanaka at 24 years old is young and his body is sure to keep adding weight. I know Kazuto Ioka is compelled to keep the record and will be ever determined to separate himself from the kid in the history books.

I look forward to this historic clash with great anticipation. And Inoue vs. Casimero in another historic fight this year?! COME ON!
