                and only a fkn moron would suggest otherwise

                the rules are crystal clear, and do not require translation...

                * clean hard punching
                * effective aggression
                * ring generalship
                * defense
                S'up Scwappy Doo? You need to get that Tourette's looked at mate.

                Look man, you know I love our little chats but a dude with such a refined intellect as yourself shouldn't be wasting your words on us little dudes. Besides, education's suppossed to be fun but it just seems to make you cross...

                Oh yeah: And before I forget the criterion is just 'Clean' punching mate, not 'clean and hard', and the ABCs own reffing guidelines make it clear that yes jabs are completely legitimate scoring punches and that yes there is a subjective balance to be struck between volume of punches and the perceived effectivenes of 'em. But you'd know this already cos you're the one calling folk ****** for not knowing the rules, right?

                • Judges are to score each round using the following scoring criteria:

                  Clean punching (power versus quantity).
                  Effective aggressiveness.
                  Ring generalship.
                  Defense.”

                  The ABC expands upon this in its Certification Program, stating:

                  ”The test to measure the awarding of points for “offensive boxing” should be the number of direct, clean punches delivered with the knuckle part of the closed glove on any part of the scoring zone of the opponent’s body above the belt line. The judges should also consider the effect of blows received versus the number of punches delivered. Punches that are blocked or deflected should not be considered in tabulating your score. Blocked or deflected punches that land foul are not to be considered fouls in the awarding of points at the end of the round.”9 (Professional Boxing Judges, Chapter III – Scoring Zone).

                  This was taken from the Association of Boxing Commissions guidelines in scoring fights. Notice that clean punches are counted. All clean punches are counted. Then consideration is given to the power of the punches landed for each man. No where in here is a jab not a punch or that it is to be given less consideration than any other punch. It is up to the judges to properly determine if jabs or any other punches are effective when they land. I don't know where you got the quote that only clean hard punching is counted but it was in error. All punches that land clean are counted. Power Punch is a term popularized by Compubox. The same Compubox that for some that stalk these hallowed halls is apparently the Voldermort of boxing. You dare not speak its name. Ironically they attribute the bastard child of Compubox "Power Punches" as having more creedence than jabs even if they couldn't knock down a child. Is Compubox inaccurate? Yeah it has been and other times it has been consistant with the fight.

                    (my emphasis)

                    AFT doesn't think the number of clean punches landed is relevent, huh? Somebody better let the ABC know that they're teaching their judges all wrong.

                    https://www.abcboxing.com/abc-regulatory-guidelines/

                    And yeah. It's just 'clean' punches, not 'clean hard' punches

                    Ultimately obviously there's always gonna be some subjectivity over the balance been power and number and what exactly constitutes a clean shot, but the ABCs guidelines are absolutely clear a clean jab is every bit as much a scoring punch as a clean hook or straight, and nowhere in any official guidelines does the term 'power punch' occur. That was made up by Compubox and seems to have caused a good deal of misunderstanding about how punches should be scored.
                    Great post. I kind of borrowed from your research in some of my responses.

                      I shouldn't bother, mate. Mr AFT already knows everything better than the ABC anyway... the dude's a literal boxing genius .
