  • Comments Thread For: Fury Admits He Initially Doubted Decision To Drop Davision

Heavyweight contender Tyson Fury admits that he potentially made a big mistake in dropping head trainer Ben Davison. Last month, Fury shocked many experts when he made a decision to replace Davison - especially since Fury was only a few weeks away from his rematch with WBC world champion Deontay Wilder.

Everybody has a plan until they get hit...you should know that Mr. Fury. Change is good, but it's too little too late for anything serious to manifest in the fight

Davison did a break down of how Wilder looks for the lead step to time with opposing guys. Fury made the right move , he needs to learn how to set and punch while not shifting around that goes behind a quality jab ,if you are a great skilled guy its no problem so what Fury needs to do is show us . Davison should be there though but its not needed ,Fury can win and its EASY....throw a jab /double jab with intent and follow with combinations until the ref waves it off...……..Wilder is terrible at punches coming at him and ,well that's that .

These 2 clowns need to stop reminiscing over social media this sounds like some cheap-ass soap opera.
Bottom line is Wilder has been loyal with his trainer's since day 1 and that will show on Fight Night.

Yea possibly why loyalty is ****** when you don't grow as a fighter and need that when you actually fight a younger top guy ? lol

It's entirely possible that Fury will surprise me, but it does seem a risky choice to ditch the things that have made you successful and try and be something you are not.

I think adding some extra sting to his punches while generally maintaining his evasive/counterpunching stylemakes sense for Fury. Going all-out for power punches and a knockout could prove distastrous.

You say that like its a good thing, have you actually seen his technique? He's a beast with power, imagine if he actually had decent boxing ability to go with it.

I'd be more likely to attribute his success with his genetics than his coaching.

The thing about Fury is, how many trainers had he had thoughout his career? 5? 6? 7? Can anyone really point out any significant differences in how he actually fights?

My point is, he always fights the same regardless of who's training him. He said countless times that he's gonna "knock x guy out" but that's not his style. His style works and it's what hes gonna do.

Ben Davison was a glorified strength and conditioning coach. He got the job because no one else wanted it. No one took fury seriously. After destroying himself with food, booze, drugs, alcohol & years of inactivity, he took 2 joke fights & then went on (in most people's eyes) to beat, at the time the best HW in the world. I find it hard to credit Davison for that. I think Fury would have fought the same regardless of who was in his corner
