Fights where someone you disliked won your respect

    Malignaggi - Cotto

I thought Malignaggi was some loud mouth pretty boy who would crumble under pressure. Figured he was more of an athlete than an actual fighter. He showed a lot of grit ‘n heart in this loss though and I was a fan thereafter.

Deontay Wilder over Luis Ortiz is the most recent example for me.

No I knew paulie would hang tough with Cotto, lots of respectable people within the community were speaking very highly of him, his jab, and his skills. I saw it as a potential banana skin if anything, especially as Cotto was beyond tight at the weight.

The part your correct about is the toughness though, I didnt think he was that tough. Paulie blew hot and cold throughout his career for whatever reasons. He was money against Cotto, N'dou 1, and a few other fights

A fighter is someone who can take a hit and continue on with their game plan. An athlete is someone who can look good moving, punching etc until they get hit. So you just attempted to correct me by saying the same exact thing.

I was always wary of the Golden Boy hype around de la Hoya but he won me over in the 1st Mosley fight.

            Similarly with Joshua and Klitschko.
