His timing for his statements are always a day late and a dollar short! He never had the same zeal as Teofimo Lopez! That's why Teo is getting the fight, and Berchelt is not! I think Berchelt is very content with Vargas X 2, and Valdez soon!



Lomachenko also benefitted from some shady dealings to jump the line ahead of Berchelt to fight Roman Martinez:

1. The WBO had called for Martinez to defend against his mando Berchelt.

2. Martinez' side tried to get out of it and protested, but eventually gave in and signed to fight.

3. Martinez then suffered a "hand injury" during training camp and had to withdraw. Berchelt was allowed to take an interim title fight while he healed up.

4. A month later it was announced that Martinez had signed to fight Lomachenko.

5. Berchelt threatened to file a lawsuit due to getting passed over.
