Boxing as a sport is being greatly disrespected

Good post. It’s prize fighting. If there’s money to be made it will happen. I mean C.M. Punk bragged about being a tough guy and how he could prolly beat up everyone even though there’s no history of him being in any real fight. This might be the future though? The in ring outcome might be secondary to everything else. Why come up the hard way if getting views and followers behind a screen can lead to a feud that makes millions in ur first fight? Maybe it will burn out, but maybe not soon enough.Comment

I think people need to realise that times are changing.
Boxing has always been about making money. It is why it was called Prize Fighting.
The dedication people put into the sport is what some people respect, but ultimately, it is about making money.
You've always had celebrity boxing and charity boxing. The world and economy is now adapting to deal with social media personalities.
If promoters were smart, they would revise the way they promote their fighters. Focus on getting them to connect with fans on more common interests than just boxing.Comment

While I do agree that the times do ultimately change with all things, I believe this is a false start. It’s like emo music, razor scooters, and those Twilight vampire movies.I think people need to realise that times are changing.

This might seem like a movement now but it has passing trend written all over the bottom of it. Kids and their interests evolve at such a rapid pace these days that you can’t point to one thing and say “this is how we will market towards them. Mission accomplished” because they’ll be onto the next thing the next day.
We will all wake up from this weird dream in a few years time and things will be back to normal.Comment

This has always been a thing. Tony Danza? Mickey Rourke? Ali vs. Inoki?
I’m actually super interested in Jake Paul vs. KSI. Never knew who they were before they decided to get into boxing, I respect their passion for the sport and willingness to step in the ring though. They were both super famous before this. They didn’t have to go down the path of taking repeated blows to the head. They have my respect and I’d love to see them fightComment
