Is 5'9" too short to fight as an amateur Middleweight (165 lbs)?

U should be fine but I would cut to 152 myself , hell I walk around at 170 and fought every amateur fight I had at 141

That is not short at all for that weightclass. Besides size is not determined only by height but natural body mass and bone structure as well.
Someone can be a few inches taller than somebody but they may be a lot thicker while the other person is really thin. Its a give and take.
In the amateurs as a teen I competed around 141 from time to time when I would not diet and I am not even 5'5". I was shorter but a lot quicker than most at that weight and did not have any noticeable strength difference compared to them. As opposed to when I was at 123 and not quicker but a lot stronger compared to my opponents.Last edited by Tails; 01-28-2020, 05:58 PM.

You'll do better if you compete at 152. Take natural diuretic, put on sweet sweat/albolene on ur body and wear a sauna suit
