Comments Thread For: Tommy Coyle Announces Retirement From Boxing

Tommy Coyle has announced his retirement from boxing. The 30-year-old has been out of the ring since losing to Chris Algieri at Madison Square Garden last June. Coyle, from Hull, had hoped to fight just once more after retiring in his clash against Algieri, for the WBO International super-lightweight title, on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's shock WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO world heavyweight title defeat at the hands of Andy Ruiz Jr.

I’ve been to fights of all levels, all over the world and can safely say Coyle-Brizuela is one of the very best I’ve seen.

Enjoy retirement Tommy, you always gave every fight your all and can be proud of what you achieved.

Thought he retired immediately after the Algieri fight? At any rate, good luck to him in whatever's next.

He always left his all in the ring, and took part in some real fun fights. Happy retirement.

Wish you all the best in retirement Tommy, top man! A lot of you might not know but he does alot for the community he lives in. He set up a boxing gym where he lets local disadvantaged youths train for free just to tempt them away from a life of crime he does a hell of a lot for charity too. Quality bloke.

Best of luck in retirement to this man. Was a great British level fighter and rose even a bit above. His fight with Brizuela is one of the best of the past 20 years. Epic, epic fight. Man was always entertaining.
