That's exactly why Arum is talking about fighting McMuffin in the octagon. They can't get any other top welterweights in the ring. Is that Bud's fault? He clearly wants the fights. Boxing politics are to blame as usual.

Im a big Bud Crawford fan and im far from a fan of UFC, MMA or McGregor but come on Bob, at MMA Connor Mac would destroy Crawford. 2 very different sports.

Great comment! What Arum seems to not understand is that MMA is much more than wrestling. Crawford would be facing kicks, knees, elbows, spinning back fists and more. He would have little chance.

Personally, I doubt that the fights will take place as Dana White would not want to see McGregor's value diminished by his losing both fights to Crawford.
The part about Crawford destroying McGregor in the boxing ring is true. The rest is fictional and wishful thinking but demonstrates a high level of loyalty to Crawford.

This old man has lost his mind. No matter how gifted Crawford is in a boxing ring he'll be demolished in mma. That'd be the same as Tiger Woods jumping into tennis against some of the best in the world. There's a reason why it's 2 different sports.

Either way Im up for watching it.
Ok , maybe there is something I missed
Why wouldn’t he be allowed to punch in the octagon

Do people who don't know who Crawford is know who Spence, Thurman, Porter and Garcia are? I highly doubt it. None of them are even close to the universal recognizability of Manny and Floyd.

                  I respect the correction.

Some people think he’s number 1 which, as much as I love the guy just is not true. He unified 140 against zero great fighters. He’s got the talent. He has the titles. He’s missing the names. I still think he’s top 5 P4P though.

Lol.... Roberto Vazquez, yes he set up that trash between Ali and Inoki. For a purse of 6 million dollars. In return fans were able to see Inoki slide on his back and Ali walk around him for 13 rounds. Occasionally Inoki landed a kick, every 2 to 3 rounds Ali gets in a punch. I found these quotes online...

Bob Arum had signed on as promoter, he remembered the deal happening like this:

"Now Herbert [Muhammad - Ali's manager] came to me and he said these Japanese people have come to him with all kinds of money to go over and fight this wrestler, Inoki, in Japan. Professional wrestlers are performers, I thought, the thing is a fraud."

Ferdie Pacheco, Ali's doctor, has a different story:

"Ali's fight in Tokyo was basically a Bob Arum thought-up scam that was going to be 'ha-ha, ho-ho. We're going to go over there. It's going to be orchestrated. It's going to be a lot of fun and it's just a joke.' Well, when we got over there, we found out no one was laughing."

Ali got two blood clots from all the kicks to his legs. Legend has it they almost had to amputate one leg.

What’s even more hypocritical is Arum was also calling Mayweather McGregor a circus along with DeLaHoya.

Arum almost sacrificed Ali’s boxing career for 6 million setting up the original circus. Terence better look at that history when following blindly.

Yes maybe the worst fight ever to watch!

All those older promoters are the worst. There's storied of them mistreating or ripping off fighters everywhere.

I think Arum is just creating headlines. I don't see this happening. Crawford doesn't have time to train MMA. Maybe they will just to try to get McGregor in the boxing ring and leave it at that.
