The better question is why would it suddenly become an issue after all these years. In the post fight interview and this conference he keeps saying he slowed down around round 9 and he doesn’t understand why. It’s because he was getting picked apart to the body and he knows it. Can’t come up with an excuse so he’s throwing a couple different ones at the wall and seeing what sticks.

For running shoes its easy, buy a size wide or extra wide (new balance has wides and extra wide for all shoes) pair and buy a normal pair. Now you got a shoe for your busted 6 toe foot and a shoe for your normal foot. You paid twice as much but hey you make millions of dollars per fight, its a training expense you can write off on your taxes.

For boxing shoes, either get wides or get a custom made shoe. What do you think Fury and Valuev had to do? Their 6'9'' and 7' giant asses didnt just go to the boxing store to get shoes, they have to custom order that chit.

Tell them you have a ***ed up foot and custom order your chit.

I remember when he first talked about it years ago. Something like the skin isn't as thick and there's not much muscle, so it it doesn't take much to bleed out. That's why he plods and doesn't move fast around the ring.
