Is Rosario vs Williams like Mayorga vs Forrest?

Similar situations. I remember Vernon was coming off those big wins against Mosley only to lose the belt to Mayorga in his very next 2 fights.

I think Rosario will always be a problem for Williams. Even in the rematch. Just a bad match stylistically.

It's funny you bring this up because Rosaio's physicality in that fight reminded me of Mayorga's at welterweight. However, I think it's the situations are a little different. I'm a big fan of J-Rock, but Vernon was more proven when he was upset by Mayorga. I believe he was undefeated at the time and was coming off back to back wins over a top p4p fighter.

We shall see how it plays out style wise, but I agree Rosario will always be a tough fight for Williams.

Could be. I wouldn't put it past Breadman and Williams to put together a good game plan and get the titles back. Who knows.....

Only fight I’ve ever been to. We were going to Pechanga to hang out and party, didn’t even know the fight was happening. Got lucky and scored some tickets.

Possibly, what I think surprised JRock more than anything was that Rosario was able to make him miss and counter him. They talked about Rosario being a good puncher beforehand but Rosario was able to box with JRock. Now, the cut was bad and could have played a part, but JRock is going to have to be on his game to win the rematch.

Pretty good comparison of the situation and the fight’s expectations - Mayorga was a bit more of a known commodity, with a reputation that preceded him. But also like Mayorga - Forrest, even though the outcome was unexpected, it wasn’t the biggest surprise either.
