If there was more informed discussion and analysis of fights on here instead of the usual suspects doing the fan / hater thing I might do it more often though.

Probably something I should just get doing anyway, in spite of the fact that it's like wading through treacle... probably on the FbF threads or even a brief breakdown after a Pick Em would work, seems like the worst of the trolls ain't really got much of a presence there.
Yes, I do it for myself as well. As for discussions, I won’t get into it too much if people aren’t being reasonable. It means nothing to me what the trolls say. But if people have something worthwhile to share, why not? After all, what are we doing here, if not to discuss things? Lol

      I don't watch a fight with a pen & paper etc

But I have revisited fights and scored them, I cannot recall which particular fights? It may have been Bernard Hopkins vs Jean Pascal I, maybe.

Indeed, though I think for some of the younger dudes it's at least as much about flexing egos as it is about talking boxing, but young men will do what young men do..

Honestly though I have gained a huge amount of insight from reading the posts of those who have both studied the sport a deal longer than I have and those who have actually competed beyond competitive sparring (which is about how far I got with the sport, way back when..).

Haha As Keanu Reeves said in the movie “Parenthood,” “That’s what young dudes do.” Lol

I’ve learned a decent amount myself. There are a lot of guys here who know a lot more about the sport than I do, although I’ve been into it to some degree for almost fifty years. (The history section is where most of those members reside.) But I enjoy just talking about a wide range of things related to boxing (and whatever else). How a close fight should’ve been scored is often a subject I find interesting.

I used to be a complete dork with scoring fights live on paper lol. Than I'd just score online in a rbr thread. And now I just enjoy the fight & if it's competitive I kinda sorta try to keep the score in my head along with the close rounds to get a better idea of the margin of error between judges might be. I don't even like to be online at all during fights usually these days.
