    NSB PICK EM 2020 #4. 25th January 2020

    SATURDAY 25th JANUARY 2020

    Brooklyn, NY, USA (UTC-5)

    Danny Garcia vs Ivan Redkach

    BETTING ODDS:

    Garcia: -2500 Redkach: +850 (x3 on Redkach)

    https://www.oddschecker.com/boxing/d...redkach/winner

    Ways fighters can win:
    Decision: WIDE or CLOSE
KO: EARLY (1-4), MID (5-8) or LATE (9-12)

Examples of the ways you can state your decision:

PICK EM CREW, Redkach KO, early
PICK EM CREW, GARCIA, DEC, WIDE
PICK EM CREW REDKACH KO LATE x3
If no multiplier is specified in your pick (ie x2, x3) then it will be assumed that no multiplier is being used (x1)
If you wish to pick a Draw result, simply state your Username, both fighter names and DRAW, ie:

PICK EM CREW, Garcia, Redkach, DRAW

    NOTES:
-Picking the correct winner earns 20 pts
-Picking the correct method earns 10 pts
-Picking the correct detail is worth 10 pts
-Draws are worth 150 pts. A perfect pick without a multiplier is 40pts.

-CLOSE is <12 pts difference, or anything closer than 116-112 on all three scorecards. WIDE is >=12 pts difference, or anything equivalent to 116-112 on all three cards or wider.

-If you'd like to change your pick before the fight starts, post in this thread to do so. Ideally tag me so that I don't miss it.

-2X doubles your points and 3X triples your points. Everyone starts with 10 doubles and 6 triples to use throughout the year. If you forget how many you have left, check the leaderboard in the master thread. Every player also has 1 x5 special multiplier which can be only be used on an underdog (+100 or greater) fighter and will be replenished on July 1st if used before that time.

Sticky me please and it'd be appreciated if you could also remove any old pick 'em threads still stickied.

OK, gentlemen. So, once again we have what looks to be a very significant mismatch... once again I expect the picks to be very one sided and once again some of you may choose to throw some multipliers at what looks to be an almost guaranteed outcome... Good luck with that.

Maybe you're figuring that since we had two pretty major upsets out of 3 pick 'ems this year you're gonna be safe picking the favourite this time around. Unfortunately probability don't work that way. You just gotta roll the dice gents.

On paper it does have the look of a fun fight, Ivan should come out fast and furious and he might even have a moment or two, but fundamentally Danny's just too sound a boxer not to be taking over, and fairly early too if I had to guess. I'm anticipating a fairly one sided beatdown once Swift works out what's in front of him... but, err, I would point out that I have got this shit wrong before.

      Best of luck

So it’s just one fight per week when it’s slow? What about international fights and lower weight divisions? I dont see why Stephen Fulton-Khegai doesnt get listed.

Yeah I gave it some thought. TBH I was just going off the kinda fights that got in last year when we put them to the poll. Myself I'm all for including international, second tier and regional fights - in fact I'd prefer 'em if it meant more competitive and difficult to pick match-ups, That's the kinda thing which would both make everyone research and learn more and really seperate the guys with knowledge. Problem is mainly when I've asked the players there ain't been a huge amount of enthusiasm for including the smaller fights. You figure you can drum up some support for 'em you'll have my wholehearted backing.

I'll be putting up a thread in the next day or two for February's fights... I think there'll be about 5 or 6 definites but possibly as many as 10 optional fights that I'll put to the poll to see what the players want, and I'll try to make sure we catch as many as possible that are 50 / 50 type fights. And for sure even though it's actually still in February Makabu vs Cieslek will be on the poll, I'm quite keen to have that one in despite that I ain't at all sure there'll be live coverage outside of the DRC.

I would welcome some smaller, but more competitive fights. This week doesn't offer much. The most balanced fight is Fulton Vs Khegai.

What was the maximum amount of fights over a weekend/week?
Next week is really busy, you have the choice between:

                    Farmer Vs Diaz
                    Roman Vs Akhmadaliev
                    Makabu Vs Cieslak
                    Ramirez Vs Postol and maybe
Andrade Vs Keeler (because of it being the headliner and a title fight).

But doing all fghts seems like a lot of work for you guys lol.
