Who said he was better? Humans evolve. You can't compare the best of 2020 to the best of 1980. It's not a fair comparison. You can try to compare who was better for their time or more accomplished.

If someone wanted to argue that Hagler should be rated above Canelo in a list of all time middleweights, they might point to his six year reign as world middleweight champion.

He was also the undisputed middleweight champion twice, something Canelo has never been.

Canelo has only fought twice at 160 against GGG and both fights were highly controversial. He also got busted with PEDs which he was not cleared for at all.

All other fights at "MW" were at 155 where he either drained down a 160lber or fought welters/junior MWs which is the same exact thing they beleive GGG did but excuse Canelo for.
