How was JRock able to take Hurd's punches?

Didn't see this fight with Rosario...but JRock-Hurd was a great fight and JRock took some really good shots from Hurd in that fight.

Was/is this just a case of JRock not having great fight IQ and not seeing some shots coming (as with Charlo and now this guy)? And by that logic, he could take Hurd's shots because Hurd is not quite as slick and is more deliberate with his attack, so JRock was more comfortable, in control, and say most everything coming.

I've always felt that a guy being 'chinny' is mainly due to him getting caught with shots he didn't expect...but JRock seems to be a smart fighter...and he was able to take Hurd's shots well.

Just seeing what people thought here about why JRock struggled here (and with Charlo) but not with Hurd.

Hurd’s power is incredibly overrated. He wears people down, he’s not a big one punch type guy.

Me and I had been watching Banana on FS1 cards before this fight. I thought it was a much better fight than people thought but no way did I think he was gonna stop J Rock.

not surprise by the outcome I thought j rock was a garbage fighter since day one was more surprise he beat Hurd. I was expecting j rock to get ko by some journey man
