    Revisiting Cotto/Torres...

Incredible fight from 2005 that probably would have won fight of the year if not for Castillo/Corrales I (but thank god it did happen). This fight was a gem and both guys showed their cajones to be huge. Both guys hurt on a couple of occassions, both guys lay it all out on the line the entire time. Miguelito was on some beast like **** getting caught with that uppercut combo and not going down. He may get rocked by punches but he never wants to go down. Enjoy the highlights and discuss...

Yeah, I remember that fight it was awesome. I think a commentator or a sports writer (can't remember which) said that "Now Puerto Rican's have there Gatti" IIRC. Your right also in that it probably would've could've been fight of the year if not for Castillo vs Corrales I and I also think the Arce vs Hussein Hussein I was that year also but Cotto vs Torres and Arce vs Hussein I is probably a toss up.

That fight was insane, but the people I watched it with also watched Castillo-Corrales I so they had been a little spoiled and didn't think it was as great as I did. I loved this fight.

If Torres knew how to finished and didn't get gassed so easily he would have won that fight. Was quite a performance on both men's part.

Merchant said the comment comparing him to Gatti. Lampley asked him if the fight made Cotto look good or bad and he responded that he just turned into a Puerto Rican Gatti, and that can never be bad.

Oh and, there's no ****in way Torres would have won that fight. He couldn't handle Cotto's power and Cotto took all of Torres' best punches.

There should be a rematch and if Toress win it will be more exciting what will happen in there third fight.

But actully Torres looks like he didnt call out Cotto for a rematch so too bad

If there was a rematch, Cotto would be better prepared and would probably wouldnt have any problems. Hell of a fight. Cotto's body punches are lethal. Thats what broke Torres down.

I think comparing him to Gatti is talking bad about his skills, yes he has heart but he's not as blatantly aggresive, almost ******, as Gatti is. I think he's on a much higher level than gatti skill wise.

also it can be a bad thing to be called the PR Gatti, if you ever step in the ring with Mayweather you definitly don't wanna be like Gatti.

that combination cotto dispatched him with was lethal. coot in his early career threw some of the most devastating and fluid combos i've seen in awhile. he still punches well in combination, but making 140 is just slowing him down too much.

he'll return to top form at 147.
