Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury Fears Eye Could Reopen, Won't Risk Sparring To Head

In his last fight against Otto Wallin, Tyson Fury suffered a bad cut over his right eye that required 47 stitches. The gash was so bad, many believed it would not heal quick enough in order for the previously announced rematch against Deontay Wilder to go on as planned Feb. 22.

When stuff starts coming out like this before a fight, I feel like it's gamesmanship of some kind. Also comes off that Fury is preparing some built-in excuses ahead of time: "because of no traditional sparring my timing was off, that shoulder injury I denied having...well, I had it, since it wasn't an ideal camp i decided to go to look for the stoppage".

I don't hear anything similar coming from the Wilder camp. Who knows, maybe Fury is just playing mind games or maybe he's just talking for talking sake but it doesn't inspire confidence in me thinking he will win.

I'm thinking hes talking just to hear his own voice AND try and get in Wilders head. Fury is talented enough to make the fight interesting Wilder can knock him out no doubt but Fury can dance and jab jab boom 12 rounds easy. I'm looking forward to this one

I think he’s just trying to throw off Wilders camp. No way does he not do real sparring.

I don’t think he’ll make any excuses though as he doesn’t seem to be that type of dude. Regardless, pulling for Wilder to smash his face in. I do like both guys though.

            Pre-planned excuse.

'Can you believe this guy used to slate David Haye for having a career ending injury?'

Tyson Fury in my opinion has very little respect for his competitors, it is all show when he behaves in such a fashion.

... one fights someone who KOs all opponents with right punches to the head... but one doesn't take "sparring to head"... OK, OK...

Wilder fans talking about excuses, Wilders the king of excuses. He was going to weigh 240lb for the rematch, because he's really a cruiserweight. How's that going?

Wilders excuse book for the first fight extended from bad hands to the fact he was so light he could make Cruiser and these guys were all bigger than him. He was going to do the rematch at 240 remember? At least we know Fury really did have a cut. As for respect, i dunno, anything is better than to keep saying you want a dead body on your record, repeatedly.
