Maidana was a world champion coming off of a huge win..and there where several polls and Maidaina won all except 1...

A world champion. Like that means something. so are you saying Floyd fought for a useless belt and less money and let his fans down to do so being his fans picked Khan.

Also did he really need to fight him twice. He clearly wasnt a World champ the second time. Why not fight Khan instead of Maidana the second time. Especially if Floyd went to the UK for Khan. He sure threw away a lot of money

Come on man..Floyd had a GUARANTEED contract..he didnt need Khan period..people said he lost the 1st fight so he did it again..please do not try to rewrite history..now let me ask you this..WHAT WAS THE LAST BIG FIGHT KHAN WON??? I believe that Khan's style may have been a factor, and I made sure to mention that Mayweather's final fight was the most realistic time for a Mayweather-Khan matchup instead of Andre Berto.

Broner had just won a title at 147, however his over-the-top persona and combined with his being prematurely anointed as "the next Mayweather" made Maidana's win even more note-worthy. In short, it was the perfect storm as far as marketing.

Mayweather is actually listed as having slightly longer reach on boxrec, however I do think that Khan's speed might have given Floyd problems initially. The only issue with Amir is the discipline (or lack thereof) that you alluded to. I would trust Floyd to stay calm under fire and finish strong down the stretch more than I would trust Amir Khan to stay disciplined for 12 rounds. At some point I could see him leaving his chin in the air after a rapid-fire flurry and getting caught. You make good points though.

Not to mention that Broner had become a 4 division champ with that win, and was Mayweather's "little bro" at the time.

If Manny Pacquiao couldn't beat 38 year old Mayweather, Khan never stood a chance. There's nothing that he does better than Pacquiao. Slower hands, feet, worse defense, worse power, etc. Nothing about him that remotely says he had a chance. In and out in straight lines, to land flurries with no defense.

lets get real about madonna...the first fight was an entertaining, decent scrap against a slow, flat footed guy with no reach that floyd made a little tougher because he fought madonna's fight, ...had floyd boxed the guy only 1 fight would have been needed...and the more decisive, but far less entertaining rematch proves that...

floyd rematched madonna because there was no risk involved...

Is that the reason Khan’s footwork and hand speed bedazzled Breidis Prescott, Danny Garcia, Canelo and Crawford??
He was so fast for them that he beat them to the punch and destroyed all of them. I have never seen such speed, talent or skills that Khan showcased.

I shudder to think how he would have destroyed Mayweather.

Of course you were going to get passed over Khan. You weren't a slow, flat footed Latin fighter with a shorter reach like Maidana. Floyd made up excuses to avoid it man and the Floyd Boys would defend it with a capital d. You were too high of a risk man just face it

I remember Floyd posting a poll on who he should fight next and if I remember correctly the fans picked Khan over Maidana and other unhonorables.
