Manny is on the fast track to permenant legendary status in his homeland. They just made a movie on him- imagine that! A movie about a boxer, and how incredible he is, while he is still alive! Usually they would wait until someone is retired and we can look back on their career in its entirity to determine how good it was. With him, they made the movie during a lull between fights. Now Pac-man is talking about retiring while still in his prime. Well, that's just another way to cement his status. Why diminish his market power with a few losses? Manny is getting out while he is considered the man at home, and he'll just carry that status over into his other endevors.

I think you hit it right on the money. A single loss would cost him millions with his marketing power. Even after he is retired, Pac will still make tons of money off endorsement deals. It may look selfish but we're continuing to see boxers transform into businessmen. Not every fighter is as ****** as Mike Tyson when it comes to handling money and securing their future.

The sad part is, after Pac wins as Vice-Mayor of Manila, he sure will miss boxing and after a couple of years, he'll come back in the ring as a rusty 30-year old and get KTFO in the process

With the trend of popular names winning...he'll win. He could make Governor if he tries further south....
