  • Comments Thread For: O'Sullivan: I'm Not Here To Test Munguia, I'm Here To Beat Him!

Gary Spike' O'Sullivan didn't hesitate to accept the opportunity to welcome Jaime Munguia to the middleweight division. It doesn't mean he plans to throw a party in honor of the former junior middleweight titlist. "I'm not here to test Jaime Munguia, I'm here to beat him," insists O'Sullivan (30-3, 21KOs) ahead of their 12-round middleweight clash, which takes place this weekend at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas (Saturday, DAZN, 9:00pm ET).

As much as I want somebody to pull a rabbit out of the hat, O'Sullivan isn't convincing at all. Calling Mungo great, when he looks less than great. Acting like hes going to a funeral, instead of the chance of a life time. Mungo eats right hands like popcorn and hasn't KOd a real Jr middleweight yet.

O'Sullivan is a domestic level fighter at the end of his career after suffering losses and a brutal knockout. O'Sullivan will keep it game until Munguia overpowers him middle to late rounds. However, it wouldn't surprise me one bit for the Irishman to pull off an upset against the very crude Mexican

Munguia obviously isn't the greatest but he can crack just enough. I think once Spike feels the first good shot, he'll not want a repeat of Lemieux and look to survive.

mungia is not a monster power puncher. he's an accumulation wear you down puncher. he aint no lemieux. I expect spike to give him a tough fight. he's also fighting guys who are the same size as him or bigger. mungia gets exposed badly at middleweight. ggg lemieux bjs andrade charlo and deverychenko beat him badly. korobov beats him as well in all likelihood.

Never said he was a monster puncher. I said he can crack just enough. He'll be fighting guys who are closer in size but I'm also taking into consideration how much it probably took out of him to make 154, which by his own admission, was very difficult. Not having to drain as much should give him a little better pop, or at least better stamina if nothing else. It won't take a master boxer to expose him but I don't see Spike presenting too many problems.

I'll answer this he should have moved up years ago instead of killing himself trying to fight smaller fighters all this time. he ducked jessie vargas because he wanted to fight vargas who is smaller at a higher weight. vargas was willing to fight him at 154lbs mungia said no it had to be at middleweight. mungia is trash and now that he doesn't have the size advantage its over.
