The expression itself means 50/50 essentially if I'm not mistaken but at most there are like a handful of those type of fights a year, in main events anyway. Is it just any major fight/main event essentially? Even if it's a disgusting mismatch? I guess there are still the variables of how they win, and by how much or when, to keep it interesting.
I'll quote you direct from the first post of the masterthread my man...

On balance most players seemed fairly happy with the mix and frequency of fights last year, so we're going to aim to stick to roughly the same guidelines and expect to see roughly the same number of Pick 'ems. In general all title fights between fighters ranked in the top 10 per TBRB will be included plus any non-title fights of particular fan interest. Fights with guys in the top few places of the P4P rankings will also generally be included even when (as often happens) they are a prohibitive favourite. Should the WBSS introduce a new season during the course of 2020 we will make every effort to include the fights from that competition or indeed those from any event of similar ambition that should occur during the year.

        Also:

Fight Selection - UPCOMING PICK EM threads

In an effort to continually ensure we are offering the fights most players want to see, and to give players the opportunoity to do research on fights or even provide advance absentee picks it is our intent to post a thread towards the nd of each month specifying which fights we intent to include in the game for the following month. The formula we used last year offered several fights that were definitely to be included but then also offered a pol for players to indicate which - if any - of a number of perhaps less high profile fights they would like to see in the game that month. On the occasions we actually manged to put up such thread I beleive they met with considerable player approval so the goal is to extend the same formula to every month (from Feburary) this year.

So, yeah. A real pick em would be as close to 50 / 50 as we could make it, but the sad reality is the vast majority of fights involving the fighters regular fans want to see are pretty bad mismatches... such is the state of our beloved sport. This is part of the reason why we put more emphasis on getting the method and detail of how the fight is won, cos probably 75% of the time the winner is obvious to all.

So basically it's big fights with a preference for those that ain't quite as huge mismatches as the rest. My personal preference would be looking further down the rankings to the regional and international fights to find closer fights cos honestly that's often where it's most competitive - it's that weight of money at the top that messes everything up - but it's been put to the players on several occasions and the feeling is that most folk are happy how it is.

What we do have is the opportunity to broaden things out a bit in the monthly 'upcoming pick em' threads which we give a few selected optional fights that might be a bit different and allow the players to vote on whether they want 'em in. That could be smaller fights, maybe one or two of the top ladies match-ups , whatever, and we welcome suggestions too.

Goddamn, I've just read back that excerpt from the masterthread and it's chock full of typos, mind you I was so freakin tired by the time I got it all together I'm not surprised. Besides I ain't the greatest typist and my fingers struggle to keep up with my thoughts at the best of times. Have to go back over that and give it a proof at some point.
