Comments Thread For: Claressa Shields: Habazin's Soft; It's Gonna Be 6 Rounds Or Less!

ATLANTIC CITY Claressa Shields assured Ivana Habazin on Thursday that there's nothing her upcoming opponent could say or do that'll rattle her. The undefeated, undisputed middleweight champion promised after their weigh-in that the Croatian contender won't be able to get her off her game inside the ring, either. The heavily favored Shields predicted that she'll stop Habazin inside of six rounds when they fight Friday night at Ocean Resort Casino.

I think not. She has a 20% TKO rate.

Claressa easily beats the much smaller Croatian... (I don't know if by KO, but whatever...)

Didn't Habazin get stopped by a 40 year old some fights ago? Shield should be able to destroy her even with her soft punches.

It's hard to tell from Boxrec but it doesn't look like Habazin has beaten anyone in the top ten of any division she's fought in. There's possibly Giuliani who she beat back in 2014 by SD for the vacant IBF Welter title. She was stopped by Mikaela Lauren (the chick who kissed Braekhus at their weigh in and subsequently got KOd) close to 4 years ago after losing every round, but TBF in terms of female boxing Mikaela's 34 and something % KO ratio makes her quite a big puncher.

Again I can't find any kind of unified ranking for Women's boxing outside of Boxrec, but going off their ranking Habazin isn't even in the top 10 at 154.

I have just checked, she was indeed stopped by Sweden Mikaela Laurén.. 3 years ago.

I like how with men people say power is last thing to go but with women oh she's 40. Not making Lauren out to be a huge puncher nor Habazin to be anything special but I think that was an off night for her. Either way I think I'm willing to place a small wager on Habazin's chin parlayd with other mismatches to liven up this event

Well in Women's boxing 33% KO makes you a good puncher whatever age you are... not a Wolfe a Rijker or a Mrdjenovich who are all monsters in relative terms but a heavy hitter nonetheless.

Habazin ain't horrible but she ain't beat anyone worth a damn either and she's kinda outsized against Shields, not to mention outskilled but still if you're talking about it going the distance I reckon you got a reasonable shot and if you're reckoning past 6 a good one. Shields really ain't that big a puncher.
