Comments Thread For: Shields-Habazin Weigh-In Goes Off Without Incident

ATLANTIC CITY Other than typical trash talk, the Claressa Shields-Ivana Habazin weigh-in went off without incident Thursday. Shields, women's boxing's undisputed middleweight champion, officially weighed a career-low 153 pounds when she stepped on the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board's scale at Ocean Resort Casino. Habazin, who ate ice cream and taunted Shields while standing on the scale, came in at 152 pounds for their 10-round, 154-pound title fight Friday night at Ocean's Ovation Hall.

I hope this one is fire! Ivana says shes not afraid and will fight back! That's what I want to hear.. And most importantly, that's exactly what we want to see come fight night! Some return fire.. But I think my girl Shields will still win by UD!

I like how the heavyweight fight isn't even mentioned because it's an even more embarrassing mismatch than the welterweight fight or the main event for that matter. Granted a weigh in for HW is pointless they still seem to do it for most all fights, maybe just not horrible under card mismatches anymore?

Sad when it's a news story that someone DIDN'T almost get murdered at a weigh-in.

Shields’ brother is in prison. If he wasn’t, there definitely would have been a punch to the back of someone’s head.

Claressa Shields then would have complained that no one considers how her brother punching people impacts her.

To be honest Shields brother is the blame

It’s unfortunate but he has a history of violent behavior and it’s unfortunate you would even have him at your weighin. Maybe just maybe after about 10 years in the joint he can change this thought process, but I wouldn’t bet a penny on it!

                I’m just saying
